The 7AF7 has a slightly lower amplification factor of 17 (versus 20 for the 7N7 / 6SN7). Couldn't really tell a difference in my system....volume levels seems to be the same between the two.
(note the GE was made by Sylvania....I haven't had a stroke or anything )
When i was cleaning the pins on my frankie I "accidentally" cleaned the GE logo off the tube too - I mean, it couldn't hurt, could it?

Yes. NU and Sylvi. And to my careless eye, the round plates in the 7AF7 are similar to the round plates in the 7A4, except the plates in the 7A4 sound better.

Not good at uploading pics but I have a structure that looks like a typical 6dj8, with a solid silver thin disc getter,. Supported by one wire on the side, but not the Soviet style disc that looks like a UFO ... this is flat with ~8 dimples around the edge.
Two mica with dimples around each, no markings, gold pins, looks newer.
Top flashing comes down low and hides the most of the getter.
@inmytaxi, a pic would be really helpful. If you are you using it straight up in the Vali 2 without an adapter, it's a 6922/6DJ8 or a drop in replacement.

Don't even get me started. lol I used to own a Mapletree Ear+HD. Awesome amp. Had some nice 12xx7, 7025s (my fav) and 5751's, but some tough times came about and had to sell it. Included all the tubes with it. Little did I know, 5 years ago the adapters were gonna be in full swing. I could have used them with my WA2 and Vali 2+.
But the amp went to a very cool head-fier and found a great home. Happy about that.

This is for @HeatFan12: even though in a Woo WA3, Raytheon JAN 5670 (windmill getter) pair is a spanker! A wonderful, atmospheric, full-toned companion to Tung Sol 5998. Maybe both in your WA2? Or Raytheon by itself in Vali 2? .

Funny you mention that, I stepped back to my roots and plugged my 6189 black-plate (one of the first NOS I bought) in just last night. I do like 12au7 types with the Vali
Hey all, new here but over the last couple weeks I have tried a bunch of tubes in my Vali2++'s. For anyone else new that is checking out this thread for ideas, the GE 5-Star 5670 has been my favorite so far.
I mainly listen to alternative, classic rock, and EDM of various types and that tube has full / deep bass without being sloppy and good clarity through the mids and up.
