. Just wondering, nothing personal. BTW, I DID actually get my friend to get into the Vibe Duo's.

As I said before Soup, I apologize for saying what I said. But it was your own actions in this thread that led me to conclude such things. But anyway, water under the bridge so to speak, no hard feelings...

I'll write a little more about sound variance and QC, but as iLounge says in their book lower end brands can have +-30dB because these things are so small and any small variance in adhesive or materials causes large sound changes. This is the "V-MASQUE" QC we call it, our sound has to fall within our mask or we recycle the unit until its within strict specs. A quick example is the paper sound dampening padding inside. If its any point off in thickness or the shape is cut wrong just 1mm, it causes +-12dB variances. Therefore we import the paper dampening materials as we couldnt find a good enough supplier locally for it. Many other companies would probably live with the variances, but our brand quality and reputation depends on having consistent sound.

Thanks for your reply =]. I'm not quite sure why my copy does this... it happens sporadically, and is more noticeable if the cord is moved when it happens. This happens less than 25% of my usual listening time though, so I'm not really sure how to account for it... the junction between the cord and the plug seems quite secure, so that's why I'm so confused

Is there anything I could do to test my vibes out to see what the problem is?

Val:

If I'm reading you correctly, it sounds as if the plug on all Vibes models has been revised and improved.

If so, then how can consumers ensure they're buying the correct version? I ask because the pricing on specific models is often better on Amazon than on the V-Moda site. If every pair of Vibes sold currently uses plug 2.0, then it's all ultra-good and let the bargains begin. But if old stock lingers on other sites, then we'd best be forewarned and purchase from V-Moda directly (assuming you've liquidated the old version).

ritsbits - contact v-moda.com and they can assist, I am unsure there are so many variables on gear, etc...

scrypt - good question. v-moda.com is always the latest models only so that is the best way to always be sure to get latest revisions as we keep our own inventory very lean usually. the 2.0 plugs have been out for 2 months now, so most channels should all have them, BUT Apple, Amazon (NOT 3rd party resellers on amazon), and V-MODA.com usually will have the latest inventory We actually are changing the model, SKU, and packaging now for the 3.0 plug which is the same plug we use on Vibe Duo. The package has a "2" at the end and says "plug compatible with iPhone" in the specs.

The 3.0 plug is fully compatible with iPhone but of course does not have a mic. Once we switch over to this v3 plug we are changing the model number and pictures on the sites that carry it such as Apple, us, and Amazon. Since La Mocha was a limited edition color, it only got built with 2.0 plug but may not ever have a 3.0 plug. Gunmetals hitting our site next week are 3.0 and probably all latest since they sell so quickly. Apple.com Gunmetals in a few weeks will all have 3.0 plugs.

So to set record straight:

v1 plug - original plug from Remix and Vibe
v2 plug - added strain relief
v3 plug - added strain relief + iPhone compatibility, and easier shape to pull out of jack especially on recessed iPhone
Vibe Duo Plug are ALL 3G plugs, and Vibe Duo works with all standard 3.5mm jacks and is same price so is the best bet to be 110% sure you get the v3 plug.

Hey,

I was following this thread since it had just a few pages and bought a Vibe 1st Gen quite some time ago. I really like them (even I thought from the beginning that the plug would kill the cable after some time of using... so I used a transparent shrink wrap, like some of you have already done, and they are still working like a charm).

But now I've seen this Vibe Duo recently and I really like the color, the new plug, the fabric wire and of course the option of using a microphone, even I don't have an mp3-phone, and probably won't ever get one. But I thought of using the Vibe Duo as a Headset for the PC, as my Sennheiser PC150 broke down recently. Of course I would need an adapter so that I have 2 separate plugs to connect to the pc (1 for the speakers and 1 for the mic). The problem is that I cannot find anything like this. So I thought of making such an adapter myself, cause I would just need a 4 pole jack where I plug in the vibes and then 2 normal 3.5mm plugs but I also don't find any 4 pole jacks for 3.5mm connectors.

So does anyone know where I can get such an adapter or at least a 4 pole 3.5mm jack? Or does v-moda plan to release such an adapter?

Next thing I would like to know is something about the quality of the microphone. As I said I plan to use them (also) as a PC headset for skype and Teamspeak in games so the mic needs a decent quality, so that I get understood correctly.

Thanks in advance!

Great idea, we are making Duo to Nokia/SE/2.5mm/Motorola etc adapters now, but we hadn't thought of 4-pin to skype (2 3.5mm). We'll queue that up for development. Although I doubt its available currently (sorry these molds take a little while to make and test), hence why so few companies have headsets for iPhones.

the current mic will work very well for skype and indoor, and we have and continue to fine tune it for all uses with iPhone mainly (walking, driving, gym, ambient music). It's very tough because our mics have to be omnidirectional vs directional booms like bluetooth and built-in mics, but we're doing all we can to have both the best mic and audio quality!

best,

val

That's fine. Then I will very likely buy the Vibe Duo as a replacement headset for my pc as big headsets are too heavy and uncomfortable for my personal likings. I also prefer the sound of my vibes to the Sennheiser PC150.

ordered my vibes about a week ago (from amazon) and they shipped from springfield ma, like... monday. i'm trying to figure out how it can take more than like... 1 or two days to get from springfield to like anywhere in ma. and how the 25th is the estimated arrival time, if i'd known that i'd just drive the hour and a half out to springfield and pick them up from the post office there myself...

sorry, had to vent somewhere, and since it was vibe related (kinda) i did it here...

okay, you can all ignore me.. lol

it could be your ear. Go to a doctor. I had the same problem and I found that out when my doctor said I have a huge ear wax sitting in the left ear.

Woah, so many negative reviews here, when this thread was only 20-30 pages long everybody loved them!
I had a 1G pair of Vibes, but the jack damaged the cable, V-moda wants to replace them for me, but now I read the audio quality is much worse on the 2G, how can that be? You'ld think they would use the same technology as in the 1G except better cable protection at the jack?
I always liked them, hope the new pair doesn't dissapoint me

I still like them... they might not be the most precise IEMs, but they're fun to listen to, and they're the most comfortable for my ears. I use them almost daily in bed, listening to audiobooks... no cable damage since December 2006.

IMO, they're still much better than the new FOTM, the MylarOnes... YMMV.

I'll try to bring this pair to the post office tomorrow, I also used them daily, just like the two pairs of Remix M Class I had before I got the Vibes (both also died because of the cable) so I'm really glad to hear about the second gen!
My standards probably aren't as high as most of you guys here, I'm just a simple, young student who wants decent AQ and doesn't have the money to spend hunderds of dollars on earbuds, so I really hope I still like em

If I were you - I'd hate to lose those 1st gen. Vibes. Instead of sending them back to V.Moda, my personal choice would be to have someone put on a new plug (the probability is high your cable prob. is at the plug).
