Anyone care to expound on my comparison to Koss Pro35A over-ear phones, and how the high-bass/low-midrange seems much cleaner and the whole bass range seems to have more "punch" on the Koss phones? Again, is this just because the Koss drivers are much larger and therefore can reproduce lower frequency ranges more accurately? Once the (IMO) overdriven high bass/low midrange is corrected with the right EQ settings, the Vibes really do sound quite good. I'm just not convinced they sound $100 worth of good, especially when stacked up against my $30 Koss/Radio Shack over-ears. Maybe IEMs aren't for me?? |
Originally Posted by tnmike1 /img/forum/go_quote.gif I own both Ety 4p and the Vibes. Ety's, I find, get really jammed inside the ear canal--waaay deep. I keep my Vibes sorta "perched" on the peripheral on the inside of my ears. In other words, not jammed tightly inside--which will also mean the screens don't get cruddy. Now with all that said, I'm not getting a seal with them like I am the Etys, but I don't want to. IF I want a perfect seal, I use the Etys, like at the gym, gardening, etc. IF I just want a casual, open-type of seal, I'd go to the Vibes. Others may disagree, but I like the loose fit of the Vibes sometimes over the sealed-off fit of the Etys. Just depends on mood But weren't you sent a bunch of tips to try with the Vibes> Mess with them and see if any of them work. Also some may recommed Comfys, Shure tipsm, etc. and you may hve to spend another $15 or so bucks experimenting |

My limited experience with IEM is that there is always a trade off between bass and treble. Having said that, you either get lots of bass with little treble, or lots of treble with little bass. The im716 on the other hand has an equally fair amount of bass and treble that I do not find there's something missing in my music. There have been cases where people complain that the 716 is still bass deficient. I'd personally investigate on the phone and sound preference of these people as I have found that the im716 has sufficient bass at HD mode, and overly exegerrated bass in bass mode. |
