Group buys? Like MassDrop?

There is even a deals thread here in Head-fi, where did you get them for 250?

If you really want to dig then PM him instead.  FYI you can also legally get the M-100 cheap if you have an Apple or Microsoft email for employee discount.

I was just curious, I already have my m100 and I love it. But as a non-american I am always trying to find good websites to audio stuff.

Anyways, is there an amp that works fine for m100 and q701? I am really interested in getting the q701 but I dont have an amp (or amp/dac) and would like one that is great for both of them

PS: sorry if I was incovenient or rude, it wasn't my intention :)

NP, the default one of course is the VERZA, but pretty much anything goes in terms of amps for the M-100.  Are you looking for just an amp or MFI DAC/AMP combo?

I mean, M-100 and Q701 is my current stable, and I don't usually bother using a dedicated amp with my M-100. The Q701 scales more with amping though, improved bass impact (same amount of fullness tho) and less treble sheen once you feed it enough current with low distortion. My FiiO E12 works well with either headphone, but other than a slightly sharper bass impact the M-100 and a smidge of better control throughout it isn't vastly improved.

Well, I am still thinking about this but I guess I would use the amp more as I rarely use the m100 on my computer because the sound difference to when I use it out of my iPod bothers me a lot.
An amp and I have something around 250-300 USD to spend on them. The DAC section would be a bonus

Get the AQDF for $250 or wait for the price drop on the Sony PHA-1, as they both pair great with the M-100 and fit your budget.

So you like it better out of your iPod than your computer? Me too!
I've been debating a FiiO E07k DAC/amp to use with my computer or a gaming soundcard with virtual surround processing, but I can fit all my music on my iPod video, so last night I just bought a Creative Recon3D USB (the USB unit works with Wndows, Mac, and game consoles) for gaming and I'll keep using my convenient iPod for music, though I may buy a NuForce iDo in the future because it is an external DAC and amp for iDevices (including the new lightning connector ones), the only thing holding me back from that is you can't use the nice iDo DAC with a computer.

If you just want a DAC/amp to use with your computer for music, then for you I'd recommend a FiiO E17 or NuForce uDAC2, because their amps would have more power for the Q701 — My situation, I would get the E07k because it's cheaper and good enough for the M-100 AND I would use the E07k just as a DAC to my other amps to use with the Q701, but since I really only game on PC and listen to music via iPod I'm doing what I said in the last paragraph.

That even make sense? Lol!

I've read a lot of good things about the E17's DAC section as it sounds pretty so-called "neutral."

I'm a big fan of the ODAC and O2 or JDS Labs C5 for the M-100 and K 701.
I recently just wrote a review for the O2:

And C5 a few months ago:

Oh my...if you want the perfect album to test out the M100s...its the new Nine Inch Nails "Hesitation Marks".  Wow...what an impressive sounding album on these things.  Ridiculously good, even just streaming on Ultra Quality via Spotify.

I'm currently listening to the audiophile master of this album, yes they made two different masters, and it sounds fantastic. Noticeably more detailed than the regular master on Spotify.

I just found this....very interesting indeed.

The Audiophile Mastered Version of the album has been the subject of criticism from various audiophile websites, which claim that its dynamic range isn't much higher than the standard version, due to audio compression, and that its quality is actually worse than the CD.

Yeah I was a bit baffled when the new NIN HD was master in 24/48, but I might still get it from HDtracks just for heck of it.

p.s. after watching the vid I can sort of see why they did what they did, and I do agree with Ian's analysis that it could just be how the raw was mixed from the studio and getting all those clippings.  Still doesn't mean the CD or HD release being less enjoyable.  Also you may have noticed that the DRDB generally gives better scores to vinyl releases, so I don't know is a bias for vinyls or what's going on.

If you do buy it from HDTracks, you might as well wait for a sale to happen. $18 for just a "meh" audiophile album is pretty expensive in my opinion. Something like Ottmar Lieber's Up Close or I Ching's Of the Marsh and the Moon albums are much more worth the money if you're looking for good "audiophile" albums.

FWIW I had the ALO National and I LOVED the way it sounded with the M100. Super clean, major impact improvement bass wise, overall a great amp for the M100.

Maybe it's just a case of subjective difference in how much of a change it makes? I wasn't seeking much bass increase (in impact or quantity) in the first place, may make some kind of bias. The bass boost made a bigger difference. However, your comment does make me interested in the ALO National, how much $$ do those run for?
