You have Q701's too then? Care to suggest a portable DAC/amp that's better than the Fiio E18 but not ridiculously priced?

I don't have the e18, just the e11, so I'm gonna say with a significant amount of confidence that it's gonna be amazing.

Well first off, depending on what your DAC is, you might not even need an amp. If it's off a Sony Walkman, Ipodtouch, android phone, or iphone; you might not even need an amp.

IF you plan to heavily EQ the bass on the M100's or put them up to blaring volumes up to semi-speaker levels, the E18 will do wonders. Or what many people have done; make them vibrate your skull. ;D

I got the E18 and will be getting the M-100 either Sat or Monday depending on USPS so I plan to post about that.

Just to reiterate. I'm seriously not kidding, my jawbone was vibrating and the M100s just gobbled it up. These things are capable of some insane output. 
 
That said, I'm running them with no amp because I think the bass is more than adequate normally and it hurt my ears to play it like that for more than about 30 seconds.

Might as well third this. It will make them pound like mad, but unless you expect to need to boost the bass (like if you want to really slam some hip hop) the odds are pretty good you won't need one.

I already have the fiio e18 and I paired them with my sennheiser momentums. It was nice but the momentums were too natural sounding for me. I wanted to get a pair of v-moda m-100 to have a really fun set of headphones.

I agree with everyone else, depending on what DAC is in your phone. I've got an E18 and do use it with my SGN3 but doesn't add much. The treble is a tad smoother I think but that's it really. The E18 having it's own power source can be a help though, again, depending on your phone and it's battery.

I want to really have heavily eq the bass. I have a nexus 5. I don't think it's compatible with my fiio e18 so I'm going to have to probably root it or install a different ROM.

I think the Nexus might support the Fiio E18...  Try first before you root or flash it   Save you the trouble.

I was going to root it anyways and flash it anyways. But I did plug it into my nexus 5 and it didn't detect it.

Guys I read about the CEO commenting about posting some videos on how to spot a fake product but i cannot see anything for the M-100. Anyone knows how to tell if you are getting a fake by any chance?
