I was wanting to do full custom for less that $200, but i don't know of a way to do that and buy a US made product. should i just stop feeling guilty for not supporting US workers, or is there something out there that fits what i'm looking for?

what's the general consensus in the debate of the er4s (note this is the S version that i'm interested in. I can always find comparisons between the 4p and the hf5, but not the 4s for some reason), vs the hf5?

If you are using an amp, go with ER4S.  Much better product.
 
USA made or China made does not matter.   It's the quality of the components that matters.

place of origin was more of an ideological matter for me. but they do tend to cut corners when they make stuff in china. taiwan and places like that are a different story.

oh, and also does one have a less microphonic cable? i've read both are worse than the other so i seem to get conflicting reviews on that matter.
