Hi all,

I currently have a pair of DT235's and love the sound of them, but 1) They're not very comfortable for long periods of time, and 2) I'm wondering how good something in a higher price range will sound.

Basically, I'm looking for a similar sound, just better. I looked around a bit on the site, but it seems like there are mostly intra-class comparisons, rather than inter-class.

I'd like to spend $100-400 (including a DAC and/or amp, if needed). Sources will be a MacBook Pro and occasionally a Mac Mini (with Audyssey speakers). I'd prefer a closed (or mostly-closed) headphone, since I'll be listening at work a lot.

In terms of music, I listen to a lot of folk/country and indie, but also some rap and electronic.

Headphones I'm considering:
  1. PSB M4U 1
  2. Beyerdynamic DT880
  3. Sennheiser HD598
  4. AKG K550
  5. Audiotechnica M50
  6. Sony MDR-7506
  7. AKG K240

Thanks!

HarmonAudio, owners of AKG, will sometimes sell refurb K550s with a factory warranty, on eBay.
My winning bid for the refurb K550s was $180.

Would recommend you get a USB/DAC/amp.
Fiio E10 ($63-$75) USB-DAC-Amp, should work with both the Macbook Pro and Mac Mini.
