Hi Audiophile,

Got an extra cash and thinking to upgrade.

My current portable is:

Sansa Clip+ roxkbox
Brainwavz B2

I really like the B2, the isolation is so good and very good sq.

Do you have a suggestion for next IEM - my budget is $400-$500, and isolation is a must so no no for ex1000 =(, and fx700

Thinking to go for westone 4.. is there other IEM that will make my jawdrop with awesome SQ?

Thanks =)

B2/DBA02s are top sounding IEMs in my book and I think you will be looking at "sidegrades." In my brief audition of the W4 they had a different flavour to them but did not have the crystal clear sound of the B2s/DBAs due to their slightly analytical nature. At 400-500 you can take a look at some customs like 1964T/Q, JH5s, et...

Yeah, the W4 doesn't have the same type of sound, and will not sound impressive compared to the B2/DBA-02 at first listen because it doesn't have the same crystal clear type sound. The only universal I found to 'improve' on the same type of sound is probably the FAD FI-BA-SS, but that's a bit out of your price range (and for that price, you can get a high-end custom as well).

Thanks for the feedback =).

I done my homework before buying the B2 by reading threads here =).

Was thinking to go for customs, but the problem is I can't loan it to my friends.

FAD FI-BA-SS wow $1k+, I can buy it if it is only locally available, customs tax will kill me! =D

The Audio-Technica CK100Pro are very close to what you are looking for in universal IEMs and they are definitaly upgrade over B2/DBA-02. The other IEMs like Grado GR10, RE272, EQ7 are also recommended.

What do you guys think would be a better upgrade from B2, ATH-CK100PRO or the older version of it ATH-CK100?
I am using B2 as "reference" since this IEM is the only one I really liked among all which I have tried (TDK IE800, Hifiman RE262).
Not very experienced with describing-audio terms, but I guess what I like about B2 is their forward upper-mids, makes female vocals very impressive.

Having auditioned CK100PRO, I cannot recommend them as an upgrade over B2. They are too bassy and too hot in the upper treble.
