The plastic swivel that allows the ear-piece to rotate on my SRH750DJ headphones cracked. As a part of the warranty, I have the option to upgrade to the SRH840 for the cost difference. Do you think it's worth it?

I like the swivel for the 750s, but that's also why they broke. I also prefer the look of the 750s.

The 840s look more durable, have better sound isolation, and are more comfortable from what I gather. Has anyone compared the sound quality between the 750s and the 840s? Also what about the durability?

Any input is appreciated.

From what I've read, the SRH840s are not quite as bass oriented as the SRH750DJ.  Their sound signature is bit laid back less aggressive than the SRH750DJ and more midrange centered.  Before you make your decision, maybe you could try the SRH840s at your local HiFi shop to see if you like 'em.

Not tried the 750's but I bought the 440's for their more 'relaxed' musical sound over the 840's. I saw the 840's as a more analytical studio kind of headphone, and I just wanted to enjoy my music with the 440's
