Upcoming Beyerdynamic Headphones - Custom One Tesla, Custom One Studio, T51p and amp A20

I seem to recall Tyll mentioning in the Tiesto review that he was not impressed with the adjustable bass on the COP. Then again, he's been wrong before (listen to how utterly amazing the T5p is and you'll know what I mean

).

He's been very negative towards the COP which I find odd because one in every 3 headphones he reviews is either celebrity endorsed or unknown and uninteresting.

The COP actually has great bass. Not sure what Tyll was hearing. That said, they do seam to have some issues on some measurement rigs with lumpy bass so it's likely that hey do on some heads as well. There's some measurement on the web of the COP with a German Maestro pad applied and the response looks a lot like Focal's Spirit One. Should be excellent bass! The German Maestro pad may help it seal....

Treble spike?

Thanks for reprinting some hard data on the Custom One™ Pro™.  I'm currently setting up a showdown between several medium-impedance models from beyerdynamic® and Sennheiser® for the next headset that I will use on my Asus® CM1630-06 as upgraded with a XONAR® audio card; if the Custom One™ Studio™ responds in similar fashion to the Custom One™ Pro™, it may be a long shot but I won't rule it out before comparing it to the other candidates (see also "Recommendable headphones and/or headsets for Asus XONAR Essence Series?").

Ok fine, since that original reply was addressed to me, let's take out the smoothing filters...

Even on a smoothed plot, that's a nearly 15db dip followed by a 10db peak. A double whammy that ups to 15db without smoothing. Yeah any difference like that is going to sound like a spike. Around 9kHz is especially nasty. And I'll bet you dollars to donuts at least one of those is a decay ridge on a CSD plot.

Cool! Thanks for that. How do you remove the smoothing filters on headroom graphs?? I'd love to checkout some more FR plots without the smoothing applied.

Thanks

At the bottom of the graph page is a link, subtract 1 from the headphone id number.

No T51 owners yet`?

Not an owner but I did get a long listen on Tuesday and I'm struggling to understand how they can call it 51p like it's the predecessor to the 50p. To my ears the 51p is so completely different in signature. Very good pair of headphones. I think they have a winner here. Comparing to p5 and momentum these sound more real in the vocals and the bass goes exceptionally low.

Maybe they want to get rid of the T50 stocks first, or it's just that new it's not sold yet to vendors.

I saw the T50p for sale for ~100£ in our local shop. Too bad I don't need one, but for that money it might be quite a bargain.
