In the same way, I think we also need impressions of your human ears for Mk3 vs Indigo because, in HBB's review, he said the Mk3 sounded like the Indigo to his human ears. It seemed like HBB could not tell what was different about the Mk3 aside from the shell design. Lets forget about graphs. I am curious what difference human ears can hear.

After getting off to a rocky start with MEST MKIII, I have had an incredibly enjoyable night after switching to the stock umbrella tips - MKIII really needs a proper deep insertion and seal to reveal it's charm. When it arrived a couple of days ago I couldn't get a good seal with the stock tips, but found tonight they just needed a bit more of a push into my ears.

Sounds like the Indigo which also likes/needs deep insertion and the new umbrella tips achieve this. My Indigos have never sounded better.

If you have Clarion TRI tips, I highly recommend giving them a try. They are deep insertion type tips.

And if you do buy the umbrella tips and can compare them to the TRI tips, I'd be interested in that comparison.

On this point, I sometimes wonder whether those giving negative impressions on the mest had achieved the ideal deep insertion. For me, it makes a profound difference and it took some time to get the exact sizing which was not a size of Azla included in the mest 2 package. And now with the Crystals it is even deeper and the sound more present and dimensional. It does make me wonder about buying a CIEM for my next upgrade and whether that is the ideal fit.

I would assume so, I’ve seen very differing reviews of the MEST MKII which I can’t really chalk up to preference differences.

I believe this was more prevalent in the MKI as well as I understand that the bone conduction driver was responsible for a specific part of the frequency response
