Has anyone tried Spiral Dot++ tips on the UM Mest Mk2? If yes — could you please share your overall impressions and vs. Xelastec, especially re: impact on sound (if any).

To me they sound very similar on the Mest MkII. However the spiral dots++ are much more comfortable. The overall signature to me with the dots and the Xelastec is a little thin, more tin like. I know others have had diff experiences but for me it was this way (with Mest mk1 the Xelastec sounded best tho! Which is why, one must experiment.) When using spinfits I had a completely diff experience. Signature was full, engaging and dynamic. Bass and treble both articulate and musical, the mids were warm and natural and the timbre was near natural but not the best I’ve heard. All of this, coming from my ears........ And that is the caveat! We all have different ears. Sound signature will always vary person to person, tip to tip, etc. I hope this helps somehow Dont stop experimenting! -J

Anyways, just tried the Azla Crystals because I saw someone rave about it. Maybe they are OK for Airpods, but it's really terrible for the Mests. Sound becomes all upper mids. All the bass goes in the background. No rumble or impact left. I saw Unique Melody advertise the new Masons with these tips. Makes me wonder how they are going to compensate for these tips' deemphasis in bass. ALSO, earwax catcher galore.

Hmm. Not sure if those are directly shipped from Japan but I ordered this Tuesday and was able to get by coming saturday. I am not using Amazon Prime so you will get faster if prime member

Dumb Question: If the stock cable is super stuck in there should I force it out? I used moderate force but I dont want to damage anything, I just wanted to try out a longer cable I have that terminates in 2.5 but if I'm risking damaging anything I'll just deal with it.

Just rock it slightly and apply force straight outwards.. don’t bend your pins.. the first time is always tighter

I agree that the Z1R is a better complementary IEM to either the Odin or MEST. But, both the MEST and the Z1R have recessed upper mids whereas the Odin are elevated more to my taste. I prefer the Odin to the MEST by a significant margin, but the MEST are great as well. If you like v-shaped FR curve, then Z1R and MEST OG makes sense. I prefer more balanced or even forward mids.

This matches my experience as well. The Odin are my personal near-perfect IEM. Z1R and MEST are my treats when I want something different
