Completly offtopic... but since I own the Pro900s, anytime I read a group suggestion, I tend to look it up...
I checked Tangerine Dream at work using my friend Google and ended up on a ugly local pornstar's web page... very fun... hehe

Hehe, maybe some bands need a NSFW warning.

Ordered my Pro 900s! Will hopefully be here early next week. Can't to start burning these bad boys in.

You're in for a treat :)

And be prepared for the possibility of relatively noticeable shifts in sound during burn-in. Whether it is a valid concept or not, I did felt significant changes in sound between 60 and 100 hours (although far less than the supposed 400 hours burn-in recommendation).

I think I'm actually looking more forward to seeing the change in sound over the course of burn in than anything. From everything I've read, I'm kind of expecting them to sound like **** when I first get them. Plan on doing some a/b testing with my D2000s on some of my favorite tunes and give that another go in a couple weeks when I've had time to wear them in a little bit.

Sort of an update i guess...

To those who find the headphones too bright and sibilant when first receiving them, I suggest maybe tweaking your EQ a little. I listen out of my laptop with an amp and a little tweaking helped me personally.

Also, i think i've hit the burn in point where the bass diminishes considerably. How long exactly does this last before it returns?  I NEED it.

Agreed. I find that by EQing down the natural spikes at 5KHz and 9.5KHz makes wonder for a more pleasant experience.

About the bass reduction, I was scared when it happened since it's one of the Pro 900 traits, but during the following 2 days it returned and actually a bit stronger and more defined than before. But again, YMMV.

Mine finally came in the mail last night. Not sure I've stopped listening to them since, although I definitely see what other people were saying about them being a little underwhelming out of the box. Does anyone know of any posts where the Pro 900s are compared new, out of the box to a pair that have about 200 hours (or whatever the sweet spot is) play time?

What gear are you using along with the Pro 900s?

I haven't seen any posts regarding them 'new' vs '200 hrs'. It would be interesting to see. I have however seen posts with the HFI 780 compared new vs "burned in" and there was no difference (can't find source, but the user was dkft).

Haha well - nobody has ever did comparisons between a brand new and "burned-in" pair of headphones. Surprising huh?

Burn-in is how your ears are adjusting to the sound.

According to one theory, yes. According to other theories burn in has to do with the headphones actually changing the sound a bit with use.
