Ultrasone Edition 8

anyone around here compared edition 8 to edition 5 unlimited? i wanted to buy either edition 8 edition 5 unlimited, or signature dj. what would be the best out of the bunch? also, i wanted to wear them over the ear, not on ear..

Hi, I have edition 8 and signature dj and I like sig.dj better. Less treble more bass (maybe little too much for my taste for some tracks). So if you prefer treble go for ed.8 if bass sig.dj it is.

yes and ed.8 (sig.dj as well) are over the ear, not on the ear. and I have quite big ears

Just a small clarification.

Yes, the Ultrasone Edition 8 ear-pads go over (or around) the ears, BUT the holes inside these small ear-pads are not big enough to clear most ears, certainly not mines.  So my ear lobes are squeezed inside the ear-pads such that they become painful--my ears that is, not the ear-pads

--after a short period of use.  So it is almost irrelevant that these Edition 8 HP are over (or around) the ears or not:  they hurt like heck after a while.

In that case sig.dj could be better for your ears. I mean physically. Don't know if musically

I have false contact with my ED5 !   The removable MMCX plug seems to be the weak part of the ED5.

--> has someone experienced this with the Ed8 ROMEO & Ed8 JULIA  that use the same plugs ?

I currently have the same connection issue with my Edition 8 Romeo :frowning2:

Sound drops out and in if moved. I'm delaying sending them back to Ultrasone, don't want to be without them :p

ah, so the problem was at the headphone plugs. for a moment there, i thought that the cable part of the plug could be the faulty one, things which would save you a lot of trouble!

this is kind of sad.

I am yet to understand what MMCX plugs are, and if they can go bad easly, because if it can just happen, for me can be a deal breaker..

I already had my phone's plug fixed one time by Ultrasone, and AGAIn, I get sometime sound-off when I move !

I will have to end-up hard-wiring the cables... with some very good after market cables (WyWire red)

maybe it is just me, but i would buy another pair of detachable plugs, and wire other plugs. just for the conveniency of transport..

This is not a bad idea;  I already have a high quality cable with HD800 plugs that I do not use.

Any idea where I can buy the female  HD800  plugs ?

either of these should be good to go...

i am wondering if there is anything like a place from where to buy it already modified... i would not want to have to deal with problems after buying... Also i am not sure how to solder other connectors than those the headphones come with...
