ULTRASONE EDITION 8 - From my belief, they were marketed as a top tier headphone for portable / DAP use.

In reading alot of the reviews from members to own them, many use the EDITION 8 with a Headphone Amplifier.

Thus...those who purchased the Edition 8, what was your main purpose / intended use (Home or Portable)

Thank you

I use mine as home phones with my RPX-33, and occasionally at work from the UMDAC/RSA portables... never actually as portable.

Mine has been modified by Ultrasone in Bavaria with Edition 9 cable and XLR plugs to use with my balanced amp C.E.C. HD53N. I think definition, control and three-dimensionality improved.

Wouldn't it be stupid to use such an expensive and bulky headphone outdoor or with a portable amp at home? Thus it appears that the short cable with mini plug, extension cord and 6,3" adaptor is nonsense IMO.

Nice first post, Welcome to Head-F1! I would say sorry about your wallet, but looks like that damage has already been done!

Exclusively for home use, recabled and terminated as balanced for use with my RudiStor RPX-100.

Phonitor @ home. Currently building a good portable headphone amp + "audiophile" portable DAC for the "road".
