Ugh, that's unfortunate if indeed the problem. It was bad enough that I quickly lost interest in picking up a 3Ai for EDM.

3.Ai would work great for EDM actually...  I was unaware of this problem the 4.Ai had though :p

I'd curious to know where you guys would rank the UE 900 among the other iems you have heard, and why.

Objective (= still subjective, but trying to measure technical aspects according to what I believe would be a consensus):
W4 > UE900 > UE4 > PFE232 > TF10 > JH5 > SE535 > FX700

Subjective (= my preference):
UE900 > W4 > FX700 > PFE232 > UE4 > TF10 > JH5 > SE535

W4 and UE900 are almost on par. W4 is too relaxed for my taste but has a very slight technical advantage over the UE.
FX700 is two classes below. It has boomy bass, is much too v-shaped and can have aggressive highs. But I just love its timber and airy sound. PFE 232 boasts the better fun signature but feels a bit too thin, IMO. The Audéo is better than TF10, though.
I didn't like JH5 and SE535. Not my cup of tea.

Didn't hear the Heir products, sadly, and I'm also missing some more top tier universals, probably.

Can anyone who notices the crossover implementation in the 4Ai comment on how much it affects the overall sound? And perhaps give it a rating from 1-10 as to how badly it affects the overall SQ and listening experience?

Maybe 10, it sure was a deal breaker for me. The response is nice in the bass (though it doesn't extend like the UE900) and in the higher treble as well (again lacking extension compared to the UE900 though), it sounds nice at these ends. But those midhighs are simply sucked out, from 2-4k the Heirs impair details there a lot.

-.- so you would recommend the ue 900 over the heirs? If it matters, I mostly listen to classical and rock and I don't care much for bass quantity or impact as long as it's accurate. I just want sparkly treble with decent extension and slightly forward placed mids.

I only got a 30min audition of the UE900. I will say the UE900 is a league above, specially if you close it's pinhole.

I can't pull the trigger on these knowing there's a crossover issue on top of the $55 dollar shipping charge from China to Vietnam...it's funny that nobody else noticed this problem before, however.

Man, it would be nice to upgrade to these from the TF10 but not for $400. If they were on sale for around $200-250, then maybe I could justify it. I paid $125 for the TF10.

I wonder if there's any chance these will go up for sale on black Friday?  I lost my TF10s at the gym about a week ago.  :frowning2:
