How is the synergy between the ue900 and the iPod touch 5g or the iPhone 5. I had the 4g and the ue900 sounded great with them but it broke. I tried them on other devices and non of them sound as good as the 4

The touch 5g uses the same chip as the 4s so it should be no problem, but the same can't be said for the 5. However, the 900 still sounds good with it.

i would recommend using the bbe enhanced 'soundmax pro app' with that setup. That's the way I have my 5th gen touch with the UE's and I find it ties the sound quality together nicely after tweaking the app settings

Hmm I thought the 5g and the touch 5g use the same chip and Il look into that app when I purchase one of the two this wk

No, the iPod Touch 5th Gen and iPhone 4S both uses A5, the iPhone 5 uses A6, and the iPhone 5S uses A7.

I am so unbelievably p*ssed... my UE900's got stolen this weekend at a Christmas function along with my phone... but I'm more upset about my UE900's! - and now I'm reading that the UE900's have been discontinued!?  Say it isn't so!  :'(

Thanks for the commiserations - fortunately I do have insurance and it appears I will be able to get another pair... my only concern now is whether I should wait for a potential usurper to the UE900 throne or just get the UE900 again, which I loved.
I'd love to hear you guys' opinions on whether it's worth investing in something else in the same money bracket.

I got these around Black Friday for $200. First impressions, I was rather disappointed comparing with full sized headphones like my HE-500 or even portable on-ears like my KEF M500. I figure it wouldn't be fair to expect a sound on par with larger drivers. Today I played around with EQ, and it's sounding a lot better. I think the problem is I listen to a lot of female JPop vocals, which the recessed upper midrange really hits hard. EQing for the upper mids really helped, and now it's sounding much better. Even before EQ, comparing with cheaper IEMs, I could tell the UE900 as technically superior in details, imaging, soundstage, and separation. After lifting a lot of the veil in the vocals due to the upper midrange suckout, these superiorities are even more apparent. For IEMs, I'm satisfied. Still not on par with larger headphones of course. I think for anyone looking for a portable option that does not require extreme isolation or being used in an active setting like during exercise, the KEF M500 is a better option if one is comfortable with on-ears.
