Twister (or anyone else that can answer): I have a Dragonfly 1.2 I use with my note 3 and some grados. I LOVE the sound I get from this setup - tames the highs, fills out the lows and maintains good details, transparency and tone to my ears. However, it drains my battery, the Android gradation for volume control really sucks and I am maxed on volume with the grados. I would like a DAC/amp portable combo with the same or better SQ, volume pot, works USB OTG with Android, uses its own battery instead of the phone and is no more than $200. Secondary, not required but nice, would be it gives me the option of charging the phone while playing and has a good battery life. Does anything you know about fit the bill? I was thinking Fiio Q1, but it seems I would need to lose on SQ. Fiio E18 does what I want, but again I have heard SQ would be lower than the DF 1.2. Any ideas?

Q1 is an excellent choice on a budget, but if you want to go for the gold, stretch your budget by another $100 and get HA-2.  I haven't tested Cayin C5DAC, but it's also another alternative to consider.

The ha2 has my interest for sure. How is the volume pot with it and iems? I shy away from the c5dac as I heard there is very little room on the pot for iems, which I do use from time to time.

Nice read.  Any plans to review/test the new FiiO A1 (E6 replacement) when available?

thanks

If they ask me to review it, why not
