But you still haven't got the last word on the subject.
I know I am being childish, but I'm only mirroring vile behaviour. You presume to much... way to much. And don't pat yourself on the back. Just be helpful and leave that to others.
hey guys, I´m looking for a new phono pre-amp to replace my old Audio Tech TC 400 for around 200 euro's. I'm only going to use it with a MM cardridge (Ortofon 2M red on the pro-ject rpm 1.3)

I have a Cambridge Azur 551P and I have no complaints. My system is modest Pioneer vsx1022/Polk Monitor 70. I often go directly to LittleDot I+ & Senn HD598. I think I'd have to spend 2 or 3 times more for marginal improvement. For a budget pre I think it does a good job.
Any of those phono preamps you mentioned are probably quite fine, especially for a 2M Red, which is a nice entry level cartridge, it doesn't make sense to spend more. In fact you might consider just getting one of these, which costs even less and does quite a good job:

Absolutely right (of course ) If there is extra money to be spent, the Blue (or if you could afford it, a 2M Bronze) will provide much, much more benefit than the differences between inexpensive phono preamps.
Hello again!
I was wondering~
I am looking at a Technics SL 1600 this weekend with a Sansui 2000 (not A or X) receiver.
Everything seems to be in decent working condition~ the seller does not know how many hours the needle has had (he has only had the TT for a few months)
The one thing he said about the TT in terms of issues is that (something to the effect of) the auto return with the option of 1-6x does not work properly (on 45s i think?)~ he says the tone arm will lift and act as if it is going to move into place but then go to the middle and drop at the center of the record~ otherwise it plays fine~
I saw a post on here somewhere about this similar thing..something about anti skating? If i buy this I will ofcourse download the manual~ but I wanted to ask what your thoughts were~ he is asking $125 for the TT but wanted to let me know of this issue~ I said I would ask around and so I am wondering what kind of servicing I may need to take this in for and how much it might be or if it is an easy fix? Is this tone arm issue a big issue that will develop into something worse? is $125 a fair price?
For both the TT and the receiver he is asking a total of $260~ Is this fair? I feel like I can bring him down~ the receiver makes a little buzz when you first adjust the bass knob but then goes away~
Thank you very much for any advice and input~
Apologies for my newbness~
Do turntables with USB port work with Dacs via Mac?
Planning on purchasing the Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB Turntable or MUSIC HALL - USB-1 TURNTABLE. Can I go from turntable to Mac through USB and Mac to Bifrost Optical?
If you're getting a sub $500 USB turntable, chances are it will sound worse than digital lossless files through the Bifrost.
But answering your question, I don't know honestly. USB turntables usually come with digitising softwares for needle drops and copying, not to listen through computer.

USB turntables are for converting vinyl to digital files. There is no reason to run it through your Mac otherwise. If it's got a built in phono preamp you can just run it straight to your headphone amp and skip the Mac all together. So you can do turntable with phono preamp > headphone amp OR turntable > convert vinyl to digital files > LATER > replay digital files on Mac > Bifrost > headphone amp.

Hi Guys, Hope all is well. Seeking some help choosing a turntable. The last time i purchased a turntable was about 20 years ago! As far as i can remember it was magnetic driven and opposed to belt driven.. My budget is around 300 euro. Can anybody offer me some advice and feedback and what i should look out for? Thanks in advance.
