Just got the EF2 and am seriously in love with it! Its my first amp (not including Fiio E5). Of course I am already itching to start rolling tubes with it, but have no idea what tubes are considered as good starts (in terms of which tubes are believed to have which characteristics) as well as no idea where to then purchase these tubes (would like to stay away from ebay but not pay heavily for doing so!)
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found the EF2 to be quite bright and have a slightly harsh treble with my RE0 and MS1.  I never tried any other tubes apart from the stock ones but I got some Mullard M8100s and they increased the bass quantity and lost the bright sound signature and there was a general increase in refinement so the M8100 is one to consider.  I know you want to avoid ebay but I got mine for approximately GBP20 from a "nezretroussez" and everything went fine.  He/she will probably not have stock anymore but I just mean to say that ebay isn't all bad.

Thanks a lot for the response! I will try and find some Mullard M8100s, and if I cant find them anywhere else I will resort to Ebay!
