Hey I just recently acquired my first tube amplifier, the Schiit Lyr2.Just curious for those who have such amps what are some of the most important things you should do? I know that you should care for them a little differently than normal so as to make them last as long as possible. Anyone have some tips they would like to share?

Think of tubes kind of like incandescent light bulbs. You don't want to get oils from your hands on it as it will reduce their life. Turning them on and off causes wear due to heating and cooling, so if you're taking a break for a few minutes just leaving it on.

The glass in tubes is MUCH thicker than that of light bulbs. It's perfectly fine to handle them with bare hands; the only danger there is if you drop it on a hard floor. If you want tubes that last longer, buy good quality vintage tubes, though some of the modern Russian types can last a really long time too (e.g. 6H30pi).
