Are all Chi-F- companies like this?

Nope.

Lemons can happen with the best of them. It’s a matter of whether a company can make it right when that happens. Just this year so far, I’ve had excellent customer service from Penon and Dethonray. Both more boutique companies in their way, and perhaps not your run of the mill chi-fi, but they were both prompt to address issues and act on them fast.

The cause is likely due to cheap parts. I had a Thieaudio that cost a kilobuck with the same problem. Outside of a handful of Chifi brands, most of the brands produce mediocre products at best. I've stopped buying chifi.
