We shouldn't be making light of talking to each other like that. TAE have monumentally messed up this entire product line and failed at customer care for the last 18months but let's not forget what we are all here for? (Especially in this thread).

To discuss a common interest, maybe learn some new things and help each other out if and when we can.

Not take pops at each other, raise our post count by posting one word 'joke' phrases when others are seeking help or information, or to continually beat a dead horse because we are on some sort of 'crusade'; That's not a failing of TAE - that's our failing for forgetting why we are here and letting emotions get the better of us.

But justify it as you will, this is meant to be a positive thread so this has no place here.

Has anyone else received any PM6 or Hunters the last few weeks, was hoping to have some discussion with people about what they are hearing / feeling about them. I'm liking mine but I'm starting to wonder how they really stack up to the full RRP (I have nothing of this tier to compare to).

I would like to see some comparison between hunter and pm6, anyone has both of them to share their review?

I only have the PM6 and some of trinity's much older offerings. PM4, Atlas, Hyperion, etc. I would struggle to compare them anyway as they have different filters, no common ground really.

All I can say is that the detail retrieval and soundstage improves as you go up the line (as you would expect) it's not a massive jump between the PM4 and PM6 but it improves on it enough in my opinion to justify the price climb.

Would love to know if the hunter beats the PM6 and by how much!

The Icarus III and IV are supposed to have good imaging and soundstage. I am wondering how they compare with PM4/6 in these aspects. I briefly heard the Icarus III at a Canjam and the sound seemed spacious (and may be on the smoother side). Since I haven't heard the PM6, I can't say whether the soundstage is better or worse than the Phantom line.

Absolutely agree.

Trinity are lizard people. That is all.

Well my post was obviously a joke. It's just that there's really nothing to report here for the majority of us. I guess you could consider it beating a dead horse but what else could we talk about. I wish I could talk about the sound of the PM6 that I ordered but unfortunately I wasn't one of the lucky ones like you who got theirs already. All the TAE threads have just ended up being a place to vent and talk about how incompetent TAE is. I don't really see anything wrong with that. We're all being civil to each other for the most part. If these threads were that toxic, the mods would've shut us down already. What TAE is doing is unacceptable but at this point, there's nothing we can really say or do to change things.

You've been following these threads for a long time now as well. You know that all the troll posts are for fun and when people actually ask serious questions, a bunch of us including you actually do step in and provide genuine advice. Not sure why that other guy got so angry about what you posted but going through what you posted, it seemed like he didn't fully read or understood what you were trying to say.

I actually think the Icarus III turned out to be a good IEM with some interesting filter choices. But the process they took to get there was annoying at best.

They are probably smart to go back to their roots and make inexpensive units. Good luck to them but I am unlikely to purchase in the next few years until they show signs of stability.

Having Icarus III for a moth now i do confirrm that sound wise is more than ok
It is on pair with Dunu DN2000 which i also have...soundstage and imaging pretty nice ....clear smooth midrange ...those trinity guys maybe they are slow learners but they did indeed received the negative feedback from their customers and seems that trying to improve slowly their services...
One thing though i cannot figure out...

20171021_074206.jpg

They choosed to provide 2 cable options as the above picture shows...
One 3.5 to 3.5mm & one 3.5mm 4-pole (balanced) to 3.5 4-pole end as a balanced option cable...
In my poor knowledge i am not awared of any dap or amp that supports 3.5 output for balanced sound option..every one goes with 2.5mm trrs connection outputs...
The question is why trinity choosed a 3.5 balanced option?
To be compatible with what source exactly??
Secondly..One of my set ups is the following:
20171021_075313.jpg

Fiio X3ii & E12A amp....
I connected as the picture demonstrates icarus III using the 3.5 4-pole balanced cable to the 3.5 output of E12A and the sound was OK...
Does that mean that the sound is balanced or not???Cannot figure that out..and any opinion based on anyone's experience would be really appreciated..
I also connected the same 4-pole trinity cable straight to X3ii (no amp used there) but only the left monitor produced sound...the right was off...
Switching after that as the picture shows to E12A amp both monitors were playing and the sound outcome was great..
Is the sound i am receiving that way balanced or not?
Anyone has an opinion on this feel free to help me solve that puzzle guys...
Other than that ...i am satisfied even if i had to wait for long months to get in hand icarus III and tolerating with the bad customer service trinity offerd those days because icarus III is a quality iem sound wise always imho.....

I prefer trinity's method. This way I can use the the same trrs connector in balanced and unbalanced amps.

What you are hearing is single ended sound. From the tip down, Left +, Right +, Left - and Right -.

I have rewired a few of my iem's and headphones like that.

Ok ...so the sound is not balanced this way afterall...
What can i do in order to turn icarus iii to balanced sound using X3ii or DX80 ?
Any idea?

Any of you guys really impressed by icarus III up to the point to go on and order icarus IV as well?

You need to get an adapter of 3.5 female to 2.5 male balanced to get a balanced output. They can be found at very reasonable prices.

Due to the way Trinity put L and R on the tip you need a custom cable. An adapter will not work with most balanced devices:

"Is the 3,5mm balanced cable just straight 4pole to 4pole? Yes, it is.

And in which configuration is the y cable?
R-/L-/R+/L+

And I bought an adapter from 3,5mm to 2,5mm to use the balanced 3,5mm cable that will be delivered with the Icarus IV I ordered but know I am no longer sure if that will work as I heard the cable might use another trrs configuration?!

Unfortunately, this adaptor will not work.
Regards,
Kieran"
