If you like understated designs, you will love MEST JP:

That UM case is great, unlike the Starlight/Starsea cases :slight_frown:
Even at Starsea prices we deserve better, not to mention Starlight...
These cases are unusable.
Speaking of carbon design Softears RSV and MEST MKII is nicely done too👍 I think this is pretty standard trend of those high-ends. What I love is Softears RSV comes with IEM’s sleeves! Just a little extra but that is something worth to mention.

Does anyone with Starlights have issue with 8khz peak?
I did have issues with it but when I EQ it down about 2.5db then It becomes enjoyable on all but a handful of poorly recorded tracks with 8K elevated in mix. I actually have come to really appreciate the detail being presented even with the 8K tuned down a bit.

I tried the Starshines on a number of sources today. These are what I discovered.

They appear to be source picky. I tried them on, the HAA FEE HA11, Fiio M11, Littlebear B4X (tube) and the Fiio BTR5.

The HA11 was fine with good treble quality, good definition in the notes, mids were good and timbre was fine. The bass was surprisingly not as defined as I thought it would be, given the detail tge HA11 usually produces. In the case of the Starshines, the HA11 appears to meld bass notes together as if to smooth them over, clearly this is compared to the other sources, and still fine bass, just not as well defined as the other sources.

The M11 seems to demand a lot more volume than all the others (this is not volume matched, so purely guessing the comparative volume levels). However, the M11 sounded fine. All details were well defined across the frequency spectrum.

The Littlebear powered the Starshines quite well with lots of volume to spare. Not a bad match.....in fact good fun.

The humble BTR5 was the star that made the Starshines shine (I know, I know....🙄). The BTR5 just sounded wonderful with the TRI Starshines. It is as though they were made for each other. Great resolution! The treble was beautifully detailed and airy, mids were a joy to listen to and the quality of the bass, outstanding. However, where the TRI I3s or the Starseas require volume at about 25 on the BTR5, the Starshines require more like 40 on the BTR5 to pump out similar volume (again not scientific) but they have some serious energy.

Of course all of this was done in a couple of hours, so may be track dependent.

EDIT: The HA11 has much better defined bass now, much better. I still don't know why the bass was a bit off, it may be a filter I selected (all controls apart from on/off and mute are on the one button). The HA11 sounds clean as you would expect from an ESS9038 DAC chip.

Interesting, since you mentioned BTR5 marches well with Starshine, have you tried line-out mode on M11? I have M11Pro and the line out mode sound cleaner more like cleaner tone of BTR5.

TRI DAC/Amp or Amplifier spotted!

Or maybe a DAP? Not sure what it actually is.

If night comes, can Starshine be far behind? 😉

Thanks @Droidhead for sharing these awesome shots!

@WendyLi my honest opinion for some IEMs costs around $500, I would expect something like DUNU SA6 unique stabilized wood design. Now even IEMs with $200-300 range offers quality design like Veedix Silver Strings. Please consider for future models.

Good detective work. You have a good bit of Sherlock Holmes🧛. I do hope TRi are not going out of reach of my pocket....I can keep up with the i3 but the Starshine is past my financial finish line. If it is an amp or amp/dac it, I assume it will be quality and compete with FiiO prices, which are well priced. I have all the TRi's except the Starshine, and luckily had the Starlight for a week. The Starlight, to me is the 'Boss', the Starsea it's offspring.
