It's only an optical thing with the scanned pcb. These 18 vias are very much in the groundplane.

The pcb is soldered and a few parts are left. It's looking real good so far.

Ahh good. That said it should be fine anyway. As far as i remmeber there was a dip16amp made which used a coin for the heatsink/groundplane. So i don't think it's THAT critical to strongly and directly attached to the GND plane.
