Does any hugh end headphone come with a nice cable? Tbh only one I can think of is valkyria and that's attached
Well there are nice cables, ok cables and trashy cables.
The Abyss one certainly is in the last category.

Valkyria/Pulsar have nice cables.
The Mezes now come with nice cables (recent change, their upgrade cables are now stock)
DCA comes with nice cables.

And many others at least didn't leave a negative impression, which I'd classify as 'ok' cables.

You know what would be really fun would be a dedicated thread on price gouging.

I remember when the original Focal Utopia's 9-foot rubbery cable used to be sold as an accessory on the Focal website for $900. Man, that offended me. Still can't get over it, lol.

TBH, i feel like I always just fotget meze and DCA exist since im not the biggest fan of their cans. Yah, both come with totaly fine cables. I was thinking more utopia and sus which both have cables just as bad as abyss IMO

Yeah Utopia and Susvara cables are nearly as bad as Abyss, all 3 not fit for a flagship headphone

Screw that hot take, here is a real hot one: 007mk1 is half the headphone 007mk2 is. mk1 is just an uncontrolled bloated attempt at planar bass from an estat topology back when they didnt have anything to power it and the hyper low tensions ended up messing up the entire can. If you like 007mk1 more than mk2, thats fine, but also, maybe try some dynamics and planars. Utopia and OG He6 (4-screw more than 6) both do similar things to it at a much higher level of technical performance. mk2 is the true successor to the OG Omega while mk1 is a failed attempt at remaking the sound by people who were only explained what it should sound like throuhg watercolor paintings.

But realy, Ive only heard mk1 and mk2 on one chain each (mk1 on T2 at canjam NY, and mk2 on viva stx). Frankly, I completely and utteraly dont understand the hype of mk1 (especially since T2 is suppose to be one of the best amps for them) but id happily recomend mk2 to people (probabaly over 009 and 009s tbh)

I would have to wholeheartedly disagree with you my friend lol. The MK2 stock is damn near unlistenable lol. I have not heard one modded however.

My appreciation for the MK1 didn't grow until I heard it on the T2--which you obviously already have. Another testament that we all hear differently in some cases, even if we agree in plenty others lol

hahaha. I figure im going to be on the only one on this site with that view. Its also totaly possible that the dac, tubes, or even just amp as a whole played a role on that conclusion, but id be outright lieing if I said i held basically any interest on 007a anymore.

Socialism! Who cares how much someone, or some company makes. If you buy it, value it, and enjoy the product, then case closed. Drop the Mike Moment.

A bunch of people seem to more interested in "stuff" than music enjoyment. I say to those...... whatever rocks your boat...

Next, time to schiit on Grado Hp1000 and all Grado headphone permanent attached cables. It is cool that the cups can 360, but the cables twist with the design and because of this the cables coil amd twist and become a permanent bend twist.

One of worst cable design on a headphone.

----------------------

Kudos to Valkyria for having the best headphone cable on a headphone.

shang has this same issue. IMO, if you are goign to go attached cable (you shouldnt, not even for estats) you should at least limit cup swivvle to like 180 deg.

I may have already posted in this thread but I heard multiple Focal headphones at a meet. The Focal Clear MG was the winner to my ears. I heard a Utopia out of a DCS DAC/AMP combo. I noticed right away some kind of awful 3d processing. I asked for that to be turned off, they did and I got to hear Utopias "box of music" that surrounds your head. It was interesting but a bit off putting.

When I put on the Clear MG for the first time it had an instant WOW factor. I considered picking one up but decided on sleeping on it.

If it's any consolation, the $5000 Utopia not only comes with a box, but a carrying case as well.

Grado Hemp. The bass was just overwhelming for my ears. It dominated the overall sound and buried details in the music. Fortunately I bought them used and I sold them on Canuck Audio Mart the same day I received them.

Flat pad, it's all because of flat pad. Easily swap to Bowl Pad, and the excessive bass would be gone.
