By the legendary blues singer and slide-guitarist, Elmore James:

Recorded late 1962, early 1963, New York City.

From:

Elmore James King Of The Slide Guitar - The Fire/Fury/Enjoy Recordings (Capricorn 9 42006 2)

It Hurts Me Too

You said you was hurtin', you almost lost your mind
Now, the man you love, he hurt you all the time
But, when things go wrong, ooh, wrong with you,
it hurts me too

You'll love him more when you should love him less
Why lick up behind him and take his mess
But when things go wrong, whoa, wrong with you,
it hurts me too

He love another woman, yes, I love you
But, you love him and stick to him like glue
When things go wrong, ooh, wrong with you,
it hurts me too

Now, he better leave you or you better put him down
No, I won't stand to see you pushed around
But, when things go wrong, ooh, wrong with you,
it hurts me too

Agreed. I would like to add that I didn't think of it as an unrequited love song until seeing the great video that goes with it.

Ah Cars is a good one...

Would Daft Punk - Digital Love be about unrequited love? Maybe, or more just longing for love, my favorite if it is.

Besides "Layla", there are other great appropriate songs on that Derek and the Dominoes album:

"Bell Bottom Blues" (I can remember playing it over and over when I was young.)
"Thorn Tree In the Garden"

2x on "I Want You" by Elvis Costello. That's one for the ages.

Btw, would Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me" count? Love that song...
