I believe it's always been held around the same date (~2nd week end of may)? Would'nt be too difficult to check by looking for past shows reports.

If you spend the whole of May in Japan, I am pretty sure you'll make it to the festival. If not, there are enough headphone stores to keep you entertained for a week .

Speaking japanese isn't mandatory to get around, just be prepared to get lost a few times, that's part of the fun discovering japan .

I think someone mention that it's always the weekend after golden week, so next year should be May 10.
