Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

I don't see how

How is the u2 not a good match for the gr07? Maybe not Straight from it as its never recommended to do. The u2 to a good amp will be fine with the gr07

I found two place mentioned the U2 and GR07 together:

I guess it's the pairing.  UAE23 is not really natural, too smooth for some, with the laid back mid, it might be too relax (lifeless) for some, especially with bad pairings.
I don't like the UAE23 sound with Vsonic GR07 Bass Edition, too slow and too smooth, no music energy.  But with JVC HA-FXD80, UAE23 sings quite well, especially for vocal and jazz, it is pretty good actually.

Just for reference, I've included my current setup. Dell laptop running Foobar 2000 (WASAPI event) > HifiMeDIY Sabre DAC > Visonic GR07BE. My media is ripped CDs by the Lame encoder using EAC and setting is highest quality V0. To summarize it's a cheap easy to use DAC that has good specs but doesn't sound any better than hooking up to regular headphone jack on my laptop.

Bad enough.

Have somebody tried the UD110, could compare with the Sabre U2? For the Sabre U2 I should buy an amp too. With a Fiio E6 would be the UD110 fine for GR07BE?
Anything better in the same price range?

those two examples are going:

DAC > headphone

When they should be:

DAC > amp > headphone

Going straight from a dac to a headphone isnt ever recommended so I can't speak on that.

Okay, so my questions are the following:

   With a Fiio E6 would be the UD110 fine for GR07BE (~40Ohm)?
Anything better in the same price range, would be this combo better than Fiio E7/E10, Sabre U2?

Alright answer to my own question: !!!!

SO to any one still wondering about the driver. Just click on the little icon it installs with and put that bitrate up to 32. Awesome :)

Does anyone use it (ud110v2) in combination with android and USB OTG cable?

I do, and I am really pleased. Neutron music (64-bit processing 'on')

Can I upgrade quality with external portable amp?

Plays 32 bit just fine, in win 7 64 bit. The driver does not report the bitrates correctly to windows panel but it works with WASAPI at least. Works on foobar as well. The device won't work in 24 bit mode. You have to set your player to present data in the 32 bit package. In directsound, you are limited to 16 bit.

Well, after getting my 1st shipment ripped off in transit, Stoner sent out another without a hitch. Thank you, Stoner.

I'm really liking the DAC and think it's a great buy. I also have the Dragonfly v1.2 and HiFimeDIY non-async. All three are excellent DACs for the money and work flawlessly with Windows 7/8, all getting their drivers loaded automatically. I use JRiver MC.

I highly recommend the addition of a USB isolation board and power supply. This opens up the sound considerably and is another worthy purchase. I use these:

with the upgraded Cardas cable:

I use this combo at work with the C&C BH2 amp (another great deal). This all makes for a very nice, low-cost desktop rig. My V6-S ciem's love it. I can leave my Portaphile 627 at home with the HD600's.

And do you prefer HifimedDIY's or UD110 ? Never tested U2 (Async Hifimediy) ?

Thanks

Anyone face a problem where using the UD100 causes other devices to stop functioning?

In my case, when I plug it in, my mouse starts to have intermittent freezing. Problem goes away when I plug it out.
