did some testing today when Tidal kept cutting off again and starts loading and again randomly stops play. also shows pink "server error" every now and then

problem:
song starts to play = hangs and keeps loading, no sound
Tidal app artists / playlists extremely slow loading
sound isn't distorted or bad, it just doesn't play

system
ASUS360 laptop WIN10 latest update, also latest from Tidal app (lap top works with every other app or streaming service)

cable connection 100/100mb (works with every other app or streaming service, netflix, skype etc, absolutely no problems)
laptop connected through wifi

laptop to:
-> DAC - Meridian Explorer 2 (latest drivers, works with every other app or streaming service, or devices like phone)
-> phone -> DAC
-> phone -> pre amp
->pre amplifier
same, just Tidal doesn't work

same system with
Netflix - no problems
Youtube - no problems
Skype, any streaming service - no problems

changing tidal or laptop sound settings doesn't make any difference

same happens with laptop & browser/netplayer tidal

Shortly, it is Tidal that doesn't work properly.

Any ideas (yes i have booted wifi and router and laptop and phone and.... changed cables)

@TheSnafu, I feel your pain. I've occasionally experienced this issue. However, it never lasted for more than an hour or so. I'd suggest reporting this to Tidal whenever it occurs. Hopefully, can assist with real-time troubleshooting. Please report back if Tidal support resolves your issue.

Do you suffer this always with same songs? It seems that there're sync errors. Maybe the file is too big if you're streaming mqa files (brown ones). Try to test streaming same file in hi-fi. Maybe it will help

hanging happens randomly (no certain song/album/artist), but when this hanging happens it lasts hours, then it works fine again.

i'm waiting tidals response. will report when they get back to me

I always download songs and use streaming only from time to time (I'm traveling between Malta and Spain for work) and never suffered this issue. Looking at the log, it seems streaming problem, and if I'm not wrong (it can be perfectly possible that I'm wrong) it could be mitigated using music in offline mode or streaming music in less quality. Only throwing my first thoughts and ideas just in case it can help

edit: Hey, wait a minute--on the masters version, both of them, first 40-50 secs I'm now hearing a sort of crumbly sound in the left channel. Is this it?

Lemme try the Hi Fi version--this 2004 remaster (Hi Fi) actually sounds better (more audible) than either master version and I do not hear the crumbly distortion sound in the first 50 secs or so.

edit2: It's there in the remaster but somebody really decreased it to almost inaudibility.

Could be something got in the audio stream somehow, possibly hardware related, during the original recording and the remaster decreased it quite a bit. It remains in the master versions for some reason. edit 5: I think the bass may be a bit hot in the original and this was causing some over saturation in the mic.

Edit3: I guess I have too much time on my hands! But wow, this is such a great record! The brass orchestration on the title cut is so beautiful!

yeah! Thats it! I am hearing the exact same thing. Wasn't sure if it was my playback hardware doing it so I wanted to confirm. LOVE this album and I appreciate your comments on the recording! cheers

Yeah, Herbie's stuff from this period is incredible. I hadn't heard Speak Like A Child in many years. Maiden Voyage is another great one (among many!). This music is so good that you can listen to him on any type of music player (crappy or not) or format and enjoy it because the music is so engaging.
