Thinking about amps for DT880

Here is a mini review comparing Valhalla and crack.

Comparing the tube  amp and Crack with the HD 650 while listening to the superb "" CD, the Crack sounded more like live music, period. The sound was natural and pure, and the Valhalla was tonally brighter, but that brightness sounded artificial compared with the Crack. To my ears the best tube amps' effortless sound closely mimics the sound of unamplified live acoustic music.

I haven't heard the two amps you have listed so I don't know, but the Crack is as easy as it gets to assemble. If a ham fisted mook like me can build it anyone can.

Do you have the speedball upgrade?

I'm interested in this amp, but I really don't trust my soldering skills. . .

Not yet. I want to give the stock amp some time before I do any upgrades to it. So far I'm really enjoying it so the speedball, output caps, new pot... will be icing on the cake. That will be a project for the long cold winter.

I decided to give the Schiit Valhalla a shot.  It's still burning in as we speak, but initial impressions are very good.

Congrats on the new amp. Looks like you made a good decision. I hear great things about the Valhalla.
