Quick poll. What settings do you like best for the DIP switches? Any reasons why?

I went through them and settled with 1-DOWN; 2-UP as it "felt right". Also read a review that I liked which ended up with the same configuration, so that was some sort of validation for me. But from what I know, there isn't that much of a difference that anything other than a "do what feels right" would be necessary.

My favorite is still both down (0,0), as the imaging is better for me, although I do also really like (1,1) when wanting more midrange presence. My L3 sounds SOOOO GOOD, why must there be QC issues! I want to be able to recommend these w/o reservation.

Were the reported QC issues only with pre #200 or so, or even after the initial batches?

I don’t really know. There are still people getting new units, and report no bass, or really rolled off treble. Now, it‘s difficult to know if they are not getting a good seal, using poor tips, have different expectations, or the sound really is aberrant. It’s just that opinions on the L3 are all over the place, and seem statistically improbable as just perception differences (compared to say the FH3, where everyone either likes it or absolutely adores it).

The fractures in the qdc connectors are a whole other issue, and I don’t know which ones are affected, maybe all. At least from Amazon US or Linsoul direct, it’s quite a lot more expensive to get one with the flush 2 pin connector.

Yes I see what you mean. Hard to get more clarity unless someone with this kind of issues lends their unit to an experienced reviewer for comparison, or something to that effect.

I'm always wary of the C145s because I'm not confident in their effect on the sound. So I just go with the foams lol.

Been playing with the switches on the back, not sure what setting I like or if it even matters. I have a bad feeling if I never read what they were supposed to do that I never would have figured it out.

EDIT: I got the CP145 confused with the CP240, I was thinking the double-bore.

I hate it when quality control goes off the rails.

I agree, I prefer to be able to suggest a unit without reservations. MIne is fine but too many people are having problems with the bass so it must be more than fit or tips. Then again I never did get a good fit with the iBasso IT03 pair that I borrowed and at the time those were well liked.

There was a BLON 03 competitor at the same price point that was either great or horrible so I stayed away. The BLON is not perfect but with the right tips its OK. Just took the BLON on a road trip to Chicago; I just love the feeling that I won't be out my next lunch if they break or get lost.

Are the new ones worth getting.

It is a gamble nowadays. mine is #392 (06/16/20) and my issues are rarely the left side gets detach easily i am using qdc and the right side now has a drivers flex. I tried every method to remove the flex but no success. BTW does a flex sounds like when i press the iem it sounds like pressing a button of a nokia or blackberry ?
This is the best earphones that i have. It is not perfect because it lacks subbass and somewhere in the vocals that I cannot pinpoint.
Cable : Tripowin Zonie 2.5mm
Tips : Acoustune AET08
I hope this last for atleast a year or so.

Yeah, that's driver flex. It rarely presents a problem to the listening experience though.

0,0 with Sony M9 hybrid tips SS deep insert+ 7n upocc litz and calyxM give me joy AND imho best out of L3 I can experience until now after 3 months, almost compared to my all rounder M9 , hope it’s help
Me too. I like 0,0 with smaller tips and deep insertion. I find the sound signature of this setup fun, with the best imaging.
