thebit Opus#1S DAP impressions
May 10, 2020 at 11:48 AM Post #917 of 945
I've had my Opus #1s for about a year and a half. I was transferring some files to it a few days ago and when I unplugged it from the USB cable, the player turned off instead of going back to Play mode. When I press power button nothing happens. When I connect it to the cable (connected to the computer or to an outlet) and press power button, there is a small flash after a couple of seconds at the time when the player would normally turn on but then it stays off. I have tried the "reset" with holding power button for over 10 seconds, with and without the cable connected, and nothing happens. I contacted The Bit but don't expect to hear back. Any suggestions or is it just bricked? Thanks.

is there a way to downgrade the software of opus using a pc? any tools to.use?

This would possibly be very beneficial to know, considering the possibility that this battery issue is mainly a software issue. I recently replaced the battery myself due to the infamous battery draining issue and now I am getting the same problem where the player heats up from time to time during playback and it drains the battery, and sometimes the battery meter will go from 25%-30% to 0% in seconds and shut off.

I'm assuming this is a problem with the softwares utilization of the battery itself and is a result of a certain firmware version update.

hey guys, some questions:

1) Anyone know of a place in EU/US/Canada where they sell that battery? Ideally, I don't want to order from China because it takes 2 months
2) How are you guys charging your Opus#1s? The reason why I ask is that I find that using a Samsung phone charger will charge it way too fast resulting in a bloated/bulging battery again. I also used a power bank to charge, which again, resulted in a bulging battery.
I used to charge it on my Mac book, which is slightly better. Any ideas on the best way to charge it?
3) Can anyone give me the dimensions of the battery in terms of length, width and height, I want to see if I can find it on ebay.

i dont think u can buy a battery aside from buying it in china via aliexpress. try to use a 1.3 ampere (output) charger or below..never ever use a fast charger that would destroy the battery in no time..

This may seem like a strange question, but does the 1S wobble a bit when on its back on a flat surface?
I'm wondering if the battery is starting to swell. Until today I hadn't used it in quite some time, maybe 3 to 4 months.
There was no significant drain, and it held up like a champ today when I used it for a couple of hours.
Am I being paranoid, or are my concerns warranted as the original Opus1 doesn't totter when horizontal on its back?
Thanks!

I have one of these in purple arriving in a few days and now I'm super worried about this battery issue. I'm wondering of its a large majority of units which have this problem, or of its just a small batch, I guess there's no way to know.

Can anyone who has not run into this issue reply so we can have a better idea?

Bonjour,

Hello,

All Daps Opus have the same battery problem. I had the battery of my Opus1S changed, two years ago at "TheBit" in Korea, it cost me 50 euros.

However, they are no longer responding. Here is why I suggest to buy the battery on Aliexpress and assemble it yourself:

Hi thanks for the reply,

After you had the battery replaced, has it been working with no problems for 2 years now?
