. Is KL knows to be this expensive?
Generally not. I bought my Sony A35 for $120 locally. Prices are usually reasonable, low sales tax, local manufacture, but the exchange rate has pushed prices up in the last few years.
E1 is a pretty expensive place though, albeit you can get cash discount but I don't know how much on this item. Even on the local second hand sales forums these tend to be overpriced here though - Probably because they bought them at E1

AK Jr DAC function has a lot of problems also. the DAP UI has major & dangerous lag issues- it almost ruined my hearing a few times due to OS lag affecting volume adjustment. AK almost completely neglected it in terms of support, theBit isn't perfect at this either but at least they continued with firmware improvements even until earlier this year.

Jr. is also a good sounding DAP, and I like the thin form, but would take Opus over it in just about every situation.

Just to be clear I'm not trying to put down the Opus but I think it's important to let people know all the potential problems when recommending it. $300 is still a lot of money.

I ended up with the Jr coz my favorite Wolfson dap died. I'm simply a plug n play (random) and forget type of guy. If I'm not mistaken the last drop priced a special edition at 200$ which is fair. (This should have been their introductory price)

If I'd lose my jr, I ain't gonna cry and move on. With the Opus... yeah uh I wouldn't what to do. Curious how fast the other guys can catch up to what it delivers (scales well with great gear) for the 300$ tag

My photos from the Fujiya Avic show in Tokyo yesterday of the Opus S1 or Opus#1 mark 2

I A/B’d the original Opus#1 with the new Opus#1 (and volume checked with spl meter).
As we know the original Opus#1 is quite linear, the new version of the Opus#1 mark 2 is more dynamic, deeper, fuller and bolder.

Hey @ExpatinJapan, I tried to ask their page about the main differences in materials between the original and the S but they still haven't replied. Do you know the major changes they implemented on the new one?

How about the details? Which version is more reveailing? Did you compare it via balance out?

Nice to see it getting an update, but little disappointed since I've been hoping Opus would make a more pocket friendly "ultraportable" style DAP like an Opus 11 + Screen & battery at some point.

Dac seems to have changed.

I wrote about my brief show impressions. Cant write much more without going into inaccurate imagination territory.

I did spend some time with both though.

Using the Andromeda with stock Litz SE cable to try to stay semi reference for the day.

I really enjoyed the S1 and thought it was a step up from the #1 . Perhaps incorporating a few tricks from #3 and esp #2 daps.

But as always its a matter of taste.

I wrote above

Guys I am seriuosly considering Opus 1 or Fiio X5 III. Can somebody elaborate more on SQ and UI between these two?
I will be using mostly Periodic Be and Master & Dynamic headphones, probably listening everything.
What I hate most is slow response of UI, glitches...

Firmware glitches you say? Then stick with the #1. I owned a FiiO before and i simply gave up on them - sold the X7 and got the #1.
