Dr Moulton....I seriously think you need to take a break and at the very least enjoy a couple of days of CNY. Take the family out have fun and recharge. We'll be here waiting when you come back. By the way do you know a Dr Kemp who runs Kemp Hearing Solutions? He's the guy who did my impressions and I mentioned your name and he looked at me with a surprised look on his face and said he thinks he may have run across you at some sort of audiologist convention or mass meeting or whatever it was in Toronto.

In the world of wood working, sometimes you have to fill in flaws from time to time. Some people use puddy, some people use glue and sawdust, some people use actual wood to fill in a flaw.

I watched my grandad use melted crayons

I'm sure the biggest issue for you guys at this point is from being swamped with orders and having to work that much faster than normal. Either way I look forward to seeing what it looks like in person :). From what you said earlier it sounds like you built my pair yourself. No offense meant if you did :).

Well been listening to my 4.A for the last couple days.

I've been listening to my music on my mp3 and used Sarah McLachlan -- "I Love You" & Rage Against The Machines - "Take The Power Back"

Getting good bass, makes no difference whem I press them into my ears from all directions. When I break the seal I can definitly tell but I can still hear a lot of outside noise with my normal listening levels :frowning2:

Had a good chat with the Wizard but undecided about wether to send them back for a re-fit :frowning2:

On another note the normal cable isn't so bad microphonics wise. Well IMO.

I am not Canadain, but the thing is my father is also "Dr. Moulton," and he has published many times, co-authored texts books, taught at a few universities and has held academic administrative postions.   So he and I get our names crossed over sometimes, but career wise we are two different beings as he went down the academic path and I went down a very different path.

As far as a break, the CNY will be a break in some respects as dead lines have been met, we have done all that we can, and shipping has closed....  now I will have some more time to spend in the Skunk Works department.

Dear Wizard,

Taking inspiration from UM's offered "jade" faceplates, would it be possible of someone sent you a jade piece (large enough) for you to create a faceplate out of? Or would that be too difficult to cut to the exact dimensions? Just a thought that crossed my mind.

The thing about jade is.... is it real or not?

A few years back, I tride fake jade and it essentially exploded. I decided that was then end of that.  I have also worked with real abalone....   it smells really bad while grinding it down.

A quick question about shipping - should I receive an email from Sunny with the shipping details?
Not that I am that sad, that I would track my 8.A's journey across the world....

With reference to a comment made earlier about being the only company to take pictures before sending out the IEMS....I think that would make an excellent USP.

It saved me from a lot of headaches

So I'm looking to buy either 4.A or 8.As in a week or two (after getting my molds). I'm really stoked by all the beautiful pictures here, but i was wondering -- is there any easier way to look at pictures of 4.As/8.As other than wading through 340 pages of forum threads? :)

I'm a little anxious that I don't have a great taste in picking out nice artwork (and I'm embarrassingly lacking in ideas for any custom artwork that I'd identify with), so seeing all the pictures of other people's phones is always a nice starting point.

I'm really leaning towards getting 8.As, but I recently lost my trusty pair of Shures, and I'd kick myself for years to come if I ever lost my 8.As -- not that I'd want to lose 4.As, but it's slightly more affordable to get a new pair of those down the road... maybe the trick is to choose artwork so ugly that nobody would steal them ^_^

Heir Audio has a Tumblr page..

There are also lots of great pics on their Facebook page.

On a side note, My 4.A/8A combo are out for delivery today!
I ...can't ....wait ....to get these in my ears! I pretty much know what to expect with the 4.A. But the 8.A is a mystery.....So that is exciting. I am pretty sure I will like it.

Or go with a Wizard design, just leave it up to Heir to work their magic.

Have you tried any minerals/semiprecious stones/stone in general? I believe wood is easier to work with but stone faceplates would also be interesting. Like a marble sculpture.

I asked about marble once and was informed it shatters. Le sigh...

Has anyone else ever gotten a notice saying their headphones were delayed by Chinese Customs because of extra security checks? If so... How long did it take them? I'm not rather worried that if my headphones aren't in the hands of UPS before Friday night that they won't leave China until after CNY.

I was going to have them by Monday!!!
