Are you sure that you have to correct link? I don't see anything that resembles a "test" near that post.

From the link, this was the "test" that proves once and for all that cables matter.
"I HAD to run and grab my own reference cable for my ETHERs (DHC Extreme XLR) - and I didn't SAY A WORD - but I changed em up while Denise (from Schiit) was listening at that station - and she heard the difference IMMEDIATELY!"
From i read, the filosofy of rolling cables is to reduce eventual noise floor between the systems.
There is though one product which is made to do that and reduce eventual diferences between cables ( if there is any big one).
Its caled USB regen.

People really liked the product to date. The results depend on the quality of the gear though.
Better gear leave to less improvements, but noticable.
No returns where registered to date.
Generaly the claimed improvement is around 20-30 %.
Basically you get a darker background, and music more present.
There are other similar products like ifi usb power or schiit wyrd, but the regen seems the most capable and with more functionalities.
Btw, no expert on the topic, its just my research to date.
For more info check the tread above.
This product appears to have discovered the formula for a product that has no audible faults:
In essence, do nothing. It is basically a degenerate form of a USB hum that has only one downstream port.
I've always been a Monoprice and Bluejeans cable fan and have never had a problem with anything I ordered from them. I would also suggest adding Emotiva to the mix. They have some great options for inexpensive cables that are high quality. I like their power cables and XLR cables from the X-Series line. The XLR have nice solid connections and for $35 before any discounts, they are reasonably priced

Agree with everything you stated. My only wish is that Emotiva offered a 2 meter XLR cable. 1 meter is too short for my applications and 5 meters would only leave a bunch of cable coiled up in a pile.
Cable Matters is another inexpensive option and the quality has been as well as can be expected with the few purchases I have made. They do make a 6 FT XLR.

This is a little bit higher quality cable in the length you desire:
