Came across this very useful thread belatedly! I have had poor luck with IEMs! They all had poor bass for me. I know I have different left & right ear sizes. The left ear usually sounds better with mid-to-large tips. The right needs the large tips (14mm is the biggest I can find) but the bass is still a bit lacking.
I find that if I lightly push on the IEM housing the bass improves dramatically! I get the sensation that my tips do not go in far enough but no way to prove this. Most recently, I bough the QKZ ZS5. It sounded much better but I wonder if the fact that it has a bigger housing that helps to secure it in the outer ear to push the tips further in is the trick. Any suggestions here on how to overcome my IEM dilemna?

Hmmm, kind of confused what that mod even helps with. I can see it keeping dust out (not that I have a bif problem with dust getting my MMCX connectors.

Is it supposed to help correct loose MMCX connections?

Thanks

it also provides resistance for iems with free spinning mmcx connectors like fender/aurisonics and beyerdynamic xelentos. and it act as a preventive for loose connections.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Good idea!

I tinkered with the T2's tip a lot, trying to combat the loose fit feeling while maintaining sound that I like about them, and this is my last and favorite setup:

I use a medium size Sony silicone tips and removed the core then i put them inverted, and put a regular wide bore silicone tips on top of it (pictured). It increases bass punch and vibration without muddying the midbass like the vent hole tapping mod (even though the sony silicones doesn't cover the vent holes). Also it increases outward compression a little, making it more stable on the ears. For added bonus i slapped a balanced cable on it. After hearing it with balanced cable on my ES100, i don't want to use it with SE cable anymore.

This is another tip hack i did on my Etymotic ER4XR: I use a cheap no name foam tips, pulling the silicone core out, and put it on the ER4XR.

With this mod i can try wider variety of different regular tips that i already have, and also can have fit my wide bore tips for shallower insertion.

I use the dual flange Klipsch oval tips on the ER4XR. Just make sure to push them on all the way to the body. You get a more comfy ET like fit with great isolation and balance. Similar bore to the ET triflange but more conforming and shorter with similar isolation. It's the best overall combo of balance, isolation and comfort that I found for these.

Great tip!

I did a similar thing to my Shure E4c. I wish I had figured it out years ago, because once I did the mod and put silicone tips on, it was like a different earphone! I was really missing out on a lot with the stock Comply tips (but didn't know).

Can someone please identify those tips?

They are ultra-wide bore S size. I don`t remember anymore with what IEM they came with. I think they were with somekind of sport-earhook style IEM something with i930 or similar in name.
I need backup of those for my IT01 mod.

Does anyone have any recommendations for long (i.e. extended inner/tube) eartips? Medium bore, silicone preferably. I have a number of IEMs whose fit I think these would improve - maybe even the tonality.

Apologies for the necro if you care sbout that.
