Yes, you can run the Pro from the normal socket, but it'll be quieter and will sound "muffled" compared to how it should sound. But then you never know, you might prefer it that way ;o

What was it you were saying then? It's not ok to plug a normal bias earspeaker into a pro bias socket then?

I wonder how the Lambda Pro sound plugged into the 007tMk1... There's a pair on eBay again, but the price is going to be sky high by the time it ends

Due to my 003 lust, I'm actually considering doing a swap of my 404's for a SR-X Mk3 setup as the 404's aren't really getting that much airtime. I always end up grabbing for the precious (003)

Dunno, I'll need to think on it, but I really want to play with the SR-X, preferably pro.

Milkpowder: big-ass congrats on your new setup, hope you enjoy it when it's all together and soothing your ears

Capsulewise, how similar is the SR-5 (the run-of-the-mill version, not the superduper anniversary edition) to the SR-X?

Capsule? Like the enclosure? Since the anniversary version uses the same enclosure, its probably safe to say that they are quite different. I don't think the run-of-the-mill SR-5 uses the same drivers as the SR-X though, doesn't the SR-X mk3 have a thinner membrane?

It's the SR-5N that has the same drivers as the SR-Xmk3, not the original SR-5.

What I got was a Stax SRM-006t Mk1. I have also just purchased a pair of SR-404 so my Stax journey has suddenly gone from nothing to everything!

Ahh, so you did get them. A worthy recipient if ever there was one. Hope they serve you well.

Give the headphones 350 volts too much bias and the drivers won't last very long at all.

I've seen one set for sale. Ever.

I do quite possibly have the only set of unused SRX Pro drivers left in the world though, for what that's worth.

Thanks all! And yet another thanks to Afrikane.

It's very encouraging to hear how good the SR-003 are. I'll have both of them by the time everything arrives. Will the 003 be good for portable use (I know I'll have to buy the 001mk2 package or swap cable)? I'm slightly worried about the lack of isolation or leakage of sound into the environment. If I can stand using the PX100 portably, does it mean the 003 will be no problem? Otherwise, I'll have to wait till more Triple.fi10Pro reviews come in, then decide whether or not to get the E500 again

The don't leak that much. Of course, all depends on how loud you like to listen. At quiet listening levels you could probably get away with using one in a library without anyone being bothered by it. Of course, if you're one of those turn it up to 11 ROCK

types, then yes, it'll be a problem.

Bassheads use Stax?

From what I've read, they'll be much better off with a pair of much cheaper dynamics! I'm no basshead and listen to classical. That said, symphonies can get pretty loud at at times... Thanks for you input.

I imagine the 404 leak like mad, but that's no problem...
