Ah OK. Thanks for that. Will check with Benson at ESLabsHK on whether he uses the thinner pads or thicker ones.I tried the L700 Sigma. I didn’t particularly like it because the spatial cueing was wonky. I think part of the issue is using the thicker L700 pads. The pads don’t allow your ears to sit inside the chambers like was originally intended.
Your pads look similar in build to the original Sigma pads. Maybe slightly thicker so your ears probably sit at the correct depth.
Cos as I am giving more time to the ES-Sigma with 404 drivers I can understand its charms and why it is such a popular mod.
iESL is what I wanted to buy but couldn't find in the past couple months. And yeah, Spritzer makes good stuff but my understanding is his transformer box uses the transformers from an SRD-7 so I could just buy one of those for $100, mod it for $50 and save myself $700.Totally forgot about Mjölnir-Audio. Would absolutely try anything out of Spritzer's lineup with confidence. I know there's the iFi iESL as well, which I know at one point was discontinued (not sure if it still is).

I have a trip to Japan scheduled for the end of July and was hoping to pick up either new/used gear in Tokyo. It's been some 5 years since my last trip there and my usual haunts (I have purchased new/used from Audio Union and Yodobashi and have visited Fujuya Avic) look to have low/no stock of new/used headphones. Anyone have recommendations for other spots in the Tokyo area that have dependable supply? Really want to take advantage of that weak yen.

@tigermilk
Went to Japan 2020 right before the pandemic. Those are the best stores for audio I found.
If you like videogames try https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Potato
I got some nice rare gems

FYI, I went back to Tokyo two months ago and they didn't have the STAX setup anymore. The booth was still there but I couldn't find the headphones.

Really? That sucks. I remember spending like 2+ hours trying over 20 headphones. It was my own private camjam experience with zero people around. It was awesomeFYI, I went back to Tokyo two months ago and they didn't have the STAX setup anymore. The booth was still there but I couldn't find the headphones.
Might go back to Japan next year 2024 if not 2025 the latest. This time will spend 1k strictly on food in Osaka
Good times.

It may have been that I needed to speak with someone to get the headphones. How it was previously (IIRC) was the STAX headphones and amps were just out on the table to sample.Really? That sucks. Yup, all gear was available on table and hanging off racks. Even the speaker section I was able to demo, but they weren't position properly but was on and working. That's when I realized oh shiict this vintage gear items are pretty good. How it was previously (IIRC) was the STAX headphones and amps were just out on the table to sample.
Fun times.

Yep. Did the Yodobashi "private can jam" many a time. Akihabara has really changed since my first trip way back in 2002, but still love getting to Japan. Been there some 30+ times and never gets old. Was thinking of heading to Super Potato. Haven't been in years. And will no doubt have to run over to Shinjuku to the Audio Union classical music store for my wife. She loves the place, but won't be able to join me on this business trip.

-E-earphone
-You may be able to find a small selection at Hifi-do
-Dynamic Audio. They used to have a decent selection on the first floor but it seems they have shifted more towards speakers. Still worth a look

Few hundred meters away from Yodobashi in Akihabara. 6 storeys of headphones, 5th storey is ours.
They have also used gear. I spent many hours there, best variety I ever experienced in a shop like this.
