I guess that bias circuit @ericj mentions is the external source you are mentioning?
@number1sixerfan I recall you had the WES previously. How would you describe its tonal characteristics? Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback. It's a really warm amp. Had it and the BHSE side by side for a few years. The BHSE is a step up technically, more open and with greater resolution to a degree. The WES with a bit more weight and better bass. It's a good fit for a lot of the brighter/analytical stats, but still a slight level behind the BHSE and amps in its tier or higher. Imo not a good fit with warmer stats like the 007 as things become too "dark" tonally.
I’d skip the Wes and talk to birgir. He’s got more Novem (with different tweaks and cases) in-bound or even talk to Soren about megatron optionsThanks for your feedback.I am really looking for a more tubey sound to complement the Carbon and KGST (and Octave v4). I may not have been so interested in it if I was looking for a main or only energizer.
And no issues with frying drivers etc? It gets mentioned every now and then when the WES is discussed.
It sounds to me that Megatron might be exactly what you are looking for. For 4800 Euro you get a perfectly crafted one from Soren. Couldn't recommend it more. Thanks for your feedback.I am really looking for a more tubey sound to complement the Carbon and KGST (and Octave v4). Ah OK. The WES can be had, for me, at €2800.It sounds to me that Megatron might be exactly what you are looking for. For 4800 Euro you get a perfectly crafted one from Soren. Couldn't recommend it more.
And you could get the Megatron from Iceland for 9k, which should not be better than the one from Denmark. So 4,8k is a good compromiseAh OK. The WES can be had, for me, at €2800.![]()

Anyone got the pictures of Soren’s Megatron?
