Finally found the time and courage to do the CCS mod to my T1s, using the populated board I got from Stritt Audio. Spent half an hour listening post-mod, and the difference is noticeable. It's a like a veil was lifted: the T1s now sounds a lot clearer, more layered and 3 dimensional.

Well worth the limited investment in both time and money. I now prefer the modded T1s to my High Amp Syrrah, which holds its own but sounds slightly flatter and less expansive.

Still with original tubes?

One thing at a time 😀 Got several pairs I bought in the past couple of years from Japan, but I'm kind of enjoying the original Toshibas for now.

But if you have some favourites please share, of course. Always good to know of alternatives.
Just curiosity. Mine had the ecc99

Nice! I have a T1S and I thought about CCS modding it but the thing is I have never soldered anything in my life, ever. I keep meaning to learn how and just never get around too it.

on the mjolnir website they cost a little more money)))
my srm-007 modified on mjolnir is around 2.000 dollars plus custom and shipping, so around 2500. in Europe the modify costs around 600 €

My T1s cost 350 euros (again, they're cheaper in Japan), populated CCS board from Stritt audio cost about 150 euros, recap kit from him another 60 euros. Add 20 euros in shipping, and a few hours of labour to do the recap and mod. :)
the modify of T1 is cheaper. i had from stritt both. and luckily in Europe there are a couple of builders/modifiers, otherwise we would have been ruined. mamma mia!!!!.
in the past was practically impossible to try electrostatic without a big wallet

There must be something wrong or missing in the chain since the 007 is more transparent than Susvara so it should be night and day against something like an HE6. I know this since it's night and day with the LCD 4 and that headphone is more transparent than HE6.

The CRBN2 should then be a significant upgrade to both?

hmmm no I would say the CRBN 2 level of transparency is around the same as the MK1 007. The ES-2a is a significant upgrade in resolution/transparency compared to both the CRBN 2 and MK1 007.

... and users have reported that the X9000 is even more detailed than the ES-2a.

Actually people say the technical performance and detail is basically identical with the 2a and X9000. I can't confirm this since I don't own an X9000 but seeing that it's more detailed than even the 009S and hearing the X9000 several times, I can believe that.
