The Sony 40th Anniversary Walkman Thread

Lol there's no problem with the os or the Sony app. It runs fast and smooth for me. And I can use neutron, hiby, fiio, uapp, poweramp, and of course Sony app. And Amazon HD sounds wonderful.

No if you just want a music player zx300 is nice. But if you want streaming and that Sony sound, this is it.

I don't know for ZX300 but the inability in Sony app to searh a song by simply typing the name is infuriating.
Can you stream Tidal, Spotify, and Audible ? How about Qobuz ?
Spotify works yes !

Yes everything up to date. The Audio app still surprises me from time to time but as you guess my main issue here is volume. I don't buy Japanese or APAC because well i'm in EU mainland xD So what are the options ? Buying tickets to Tokyo ?
Imported mine from ebay seller in Japan to UK and only paid £236 and avoided any import fees too. No cap.

Have I asked for price ? I got it you guys are rock stars way smarter than me. My only question was how to uncap volume, not how to buy from foreign countries. Thanks !

We don't know how to uncap the volume, what worked with the other Sonys doesn't with the A105. It doesn't take a 'rock star' to do a little research before buying something.

As I said before the UK volume limit on Sony daps has been going on a long time.

Copy and Pasting from the ZX507 thread for the android tweaks which should also work for the A100 series:

Tips to improve battery time:
1) Settings > Security & Location > Find My Device > OFF
2) Settings > Security & Location > Privacy > Location > OFF
3) Settings > Accounts > Automatically Sync Data > OFF
4) Settings > Security & Location > Location > Advanced > Scanning > Switch OFF Both WIFI and Bluetooth Scanning
5) Settings > Google > Tap on Top Right of Screen at Vertical Three Dots, Usage & Diagnostics > OFF
6) Settings > Google > On-Device Sharing > Turn OFF all listed

Tips to Improve DAP responsiveness:
3) Settings > Accessibility > Remove Animations > ON
4) Download Google Files
https://files.google.com/
Clean Junk Files once in a while(weekly or daily)

Apps that can be disabled safely without affecting playback functionality or performance:
5) Settings > Apps & Notifications > See All Apps:
Calculator (Use your phone!)
Chrome (Browsing on a 3.6" screen???)
Contacts (This is not a phone)
Digital Wellbeing (No need to track screen time)
Drive (Cloud storage not required for music)
Google Japanese Input
Google Pinyin Input
Google Play Movies & TV (Not going to watch movies on 3.6")
Google Play Music (Walkman app is better)
Google Text to Speech Engine (Not required at all)
Maps (Navigating using your DAP?)
mora (Japanese streaming app, maybe for some of us here)
Photos (Storing and viewing photos on 3.6" DAP?)

Redundant System Apps to disable:
Settings > Apps & Notifications > See All Apps
Touch the three vertical dots on top right of screen then tap on [Show System]
Disable these:
Blocked Numbers Storage
Calendar Storage
Contacts Storage
Default Print Service
Google Backup Transport
Market Feedback Agent
Print Service Recommendation Service
User Dictionary

Hidden deep inside ZX507 settings, you can adjust bluetooth connection quality:

Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > Bluetooth > Wireless Playback Quality >

LDAC Sound Quality Pref.
LDAC Connection Pref. (This is default)
Aptx HD
AptX
AAC
SBC Sound Quality Pref.
SBC Connection Pref.

Awesome price!!! I can't find one these days asking for less than 530USD. Guess I am late to the party.
Anyways, just added a fiio m11 to my inventory. Holding on for the Sony price drop, and if it ever happens, I will not hesitate for a moment to get the Anniversary edition.

Thanks for the above insight. What do you have to say about digital out coming out of ZX-507 and the A100 series?

If by digital, you mean the bluetooth 5.0 output on the ZX507, It's extremely stable(less glitching and disconnections). Bass goes much deeper and lower vs other bluetooth devices I have(Apple Iphone 8, Sony NW-ZX2, LG V20), and it's also the first time that I feel there's proper soundstaging on LDAC pair to WH-1000XM3.

No, I mean digital out via WM port to use it with an external dac, say for example PHA series

Err. Ok. Rude comments.

Anyway. No way currently and wasn't a reliable way with the ZX2 either.

Thats the reason I took risk to import. Cost saving was an unexpected bonus.

Hello all,
I have a question : Does all sony DSP processors, like equalizer or VPT surround (I remember on my old sony DAP that was usefull to mix right and left channel on some old jazz album with extreme stereo recording, not very nice with a headphones) works when streaming music from spotify and other providers, etc ?
thanks

Yes. You either can use clearaudio+, which is a rather aggressive dynamic dsp, that nonetheless sounds pretty fantastic and provides alot of pop for on the go listening and I suspect many will prefer it, or you can use the more subtle and audiophile focused dsee, vinyl, dc phase linearizer and normal eqs together in any combination.

I use it with Tidal without issues.
