Telefunken EL156. Tubeguru says it's one of the best tube in the world and I agree. Superb construction, weight and tone. Tight, deep bass and clear highs. Lovely mids.

GEC U52 and 596.
You can get the 596 from Woo for 300 bones, but they want an additional $150.00 (!!) just for the adapter!
The rectifier in my GOTL is the 4 volt GEC U18/20, which apparently is the same construction as the U52, according to @gibosi

US$399 for both 596 tube and adapter. :) Unfortunately I'm a sucker for that as it's perfect for Odyssey.

i thought it was $450.00? I just checked this weekend. For that much I could probably snag a 422a with a little patience.

It is a good rectifier, but that is more than a bit pricey for it. Of course if money does not matter, then by all means, enjoy.
At that price, as MZ has said....maybe go for a 422A.

Well, if you look under sold auctions....none of them sold for anything near that price...my guess is that those will be available for quite some time at that price.

The devil is in the details.

These are a tightly matched pair of Fivre 6v6gts from the mid 1950's ('55 or '56) that had the outer box relabeled July 1973.

Sonically I find that these Fivres are one of the best tubes that blend the finesse of a European tube with the raw power and weight of a NOS American tube.
