The Pono Player Impressions Thread

Mine was fine on the external card, the internal memory was the problem. I've had it since the Kickstarter release, and the battery was not holding charge as well either. With what it would cost to ship and repair it, and with the Fry price going down to about $200, it seemed to make more sense to just get another.

I also noticed when deleting the files that most of them deleted quickly/normally, a good chunk of files took a while to delete. I'm hoping, oh, 25% of the main memory is weird and it's smooth sailing after that. Here's hoping...

While I've still been having issues, I find that I load music to the Pono's internal memory much faster with the Pono Vault beta. Yes, it still dies, but the files that transfer end up transferring much faster. Also, when it dies, the device is automatically disconnected from my system, so all I need to do is plug it back in (as opposed to it being in a confused state where it half-recognizes its plugged in)

I have a very slow transfer on internal storage... 355 KB/s. Is this a firmware bug?

It's easy to reflash - just copy firmware file in .pono folder. Does anyone have < 1.0.6 firmware to share with me/us?

It's should be also easy to fix if so in 1.0.6.

64 GB of unusable space... Thanks in advance.

I got faster transfer speeds by going through the new Pono beta app, but it occasionally crashed

I gave up completely on transferring content to internal storage and now only put content on my 256gb microSD card.  I don't even use the Vault...I paid for a license for the JRiver software.

The Pono can read a 256gb card?? I thought it capped at 128gb. That's huge news.

I don't think it's official, but often (not always) gear will read larger cards than the official number.

No difference - still internal memory is unusable :frowning2:

355 transfer rate is about right for the internal 64gb. I loaded the albums I will never change into the internal and use a 200gb SanDisk card for my rotating tunes. Leave about 10% available on both the internal memory and any card you use as filling them completely seems to cause problems.
