Should be, as long as the cable is balanced. I have some adaptors for 2.5mm balanced to Pono balanced so I can use the cables I have
Make sure to update firmware to 1.0.6. Otherwise, DSD won't play properly.Bought one for $129 from frys at the end of May. Will compare DSF with PCM.
Can’t say much about sound quality, but iEMatch definitely eliminates hissing, and lowers the output volume. Is anybody using iFi IEMatch with the Pono and IEMs? Does the Sound improve?
Thanks for reminding. I already did and it plays dsf.Make sure to update firmware to 1.0.6. Otherwise, DSD won't play properly.
@udesign48 you need a cable with 2 3.5mm jacks which are designed to work balanced with Pono or Sony PHA-3... they look like normal 3.5mm jacks (with 2 black rings on them), but they are internally wired to be used balanced. The usual balanced jacks (with 3 black rings, separating 4 contact zones) are not suitable to be used directly with Pono.
I personally use a Moon Audio Silver Dragon cable terminated for Pono, and I also bought this adapter: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8-c...121.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dKTAG7k and asked them to switch the female XLR termination to a 4.4mm female termination, so I could use my other 4.4mm balanced cables with the Pono.... it's less good than a dedicated cable, of course, but it's not too bad.
Hope that helps
Well, you can easily make the 2.5mm to double 3.5mm connector.Wait, I found it here!
