The ORIVETI PRIMACY and NEW PRIMACY Triple-Driver Hybrid In-Ears Impressions and Discussions Thread

Not sure if this is allowed - and feel free to delete mods if it's not... but if anyone is interested in a pair for a good price in the UK pm me!

I've decided to let these go and to stick with my CA comets. Even though they have less detail and less bass, I always seem to go back to them so figure these can go to a better home than my shelf!

Well, I decided to change my cable to try one that was memory wire. And like the kn*b head that I am, despite all the warnings I managed to rip the wire straight in half... only to leave the mmcx connection still in. What a Fuppet!

But just to confirm what everyone else has said, its super easy to change cables after you've got the stock ones off.

But head the warnings... unless you're happy to bin the cables... best leave them be.

And I know this will just tempt people even more to try and get them off now

same thing happened to me lol, I feel your pain. That stock wire is actually VERY good too. Ripped mine to shreds, on the first pull about a year ago.

Interesting. I also have a comet but couldn't stand their 2d imaging and boosted bass. What made you want the comet more?

To be honest I'm not entirely sure. It goes against everything I SHOULD like.

The Orivetti had much deeper bass, much clearer treble and a whole load better seperation, detail and soundstage. The driver flex is horrible though, and this is the first time I've heard it with iver 20 pairs of phones.

So I should prefer these, especially as I'm a bass head. They also fit way better than the Comets.

But I just seem to prefer the sound of the Comets, as to me it sounds smoother. I'm starting to think I swing more towards single driver units which is probably in contradiction to 99% of everyone on here.

It really is an odd one, but there's just something about the sound of the Comets I love.

Either that or I just love the shiny shiny ;)

The appeal of the Comet is truly something. It's the first IEM that I keep very safe, even from itself (I always put them in the two mini bags lol). The New Primacy just has that treble bite that mesmerizes me. Comet has better vocals for concert recordings but for listening to music as a whole, I give to the Oriveti. It might be because of the weird timbre that the Comet possesses that you prefer it? I am not too sure on what to think of it, sometimes it's perfect for some songs while it makes other songs sound all voice. The particular track that amazed me with the Comet is Queen - Somebody to Love (Live at Montreal Forum). Oriveti is still my favourite IEM though.

Has anyone listened to both with the song "turn the lights out" by Delaine, for a quick comparison?
I've not listened to that actual track, but as above, the Orivettis have more detail, soundstage and bottom end. However for me the seperation is almost a little too much and the Comets sound smoother all round.

I find personally for me, that too much seperation and detail takes away from the musicality and is less enjoyable to listen to, for complex electronic music at least anyway.

But that's just my personal taste (which goes against everything I SHOULD like!).

Interestingly I've discovered just how different they sound depending on the player.

The commets sound much flatter and less rich on the Hidizs AP200 (which just arrived today) and sound a bit lifeless. However through the Shanling M0 they are drastically different - and that's what I was using when I fell in love with them.

I'm surprised there is such a drastic difference to be honest. I probably wouldn't love them so much if I'd not heard them through the 200. Will have to give the Orivettis another try through the 200 and see what I think.

And with the chord mojo?

I love electronic music on the OP thoooo XD, hardstyle, hardcore, psy trance, underground and don't get me started with the prodigy. Like damn!!!!! I found that with stock tips and cables yeah I would take some other iems for electronic, but after the swap to a ares ii and spinnies like. I love the OP with anything :D. I am still awaiting the new iem Oriveti are planning though. ( Higher end ;) )

Well hello and I am back. Today is the day I am trying something different. So far I am crazy in love with how they sound. It's a slight mod, but do at your own risk. But I can say detail retrival, texture in the lows has gone a good step up. But maybe foams are needed. So far using spin fits and no troubles with sibilance. But yes I think I love the NP like this. I will try other matterials later in the future.
