To update that was the USD price for Asia.
Did anyone compare it with Focal's Utopia? If so, what are the differences?
As far as I know, the MSRP in the states has always been $2,299.99.

The only place I saw a price of $2,199.99 was Amazon.com
Pricing USD
WM1Z 3199
WM1A 1199
ZH1ES 2199
Z1R 2199
1000X 399
The Z1R has already gone up $100 in price?

"My experience with the beautiful MDR-Z1R wasn’t really positive. It sounded very bassy and muffled overal and I can’t believe a new flagship would sounds like this. So probably someone did something wrong there."

i wonder how many units of both the new dap and cans will actually sell?
while i think it's great that Sony is upping their game and coming out with better sounding products,
these prices are out of reach for many.
read an article by Darko on this same issue (price vs sales) about Audeze $$$ cans:
that they couldn't rely on their high end gear to sustain them
...hence the popularity of the sine portable cans:
offered great sound for a decent price.
Sony's new high-end audio range is nuts (hands-on)

I agree. Sony has given me a solid impression from this event that they know what is needed to compete at summit fi level, and I am sure that they can handle the mid and entry range appropriately.
