I have a question to questyle… For the ios versions using lightning will the amps be less powerful than the usb c versions due to lightning having less power?
I'm hoping to get some insight into an odd issue with the M12i.
I have it just for a review and to have my wife get a good listen considering the great price.
We both have Samsung S24 Ultra phones. We use Tidal, but with Android, I stream through UAPP. It works great but then suddenly when either skipping or just letting the next track naturally play, we suddenly lose all volume. Track is clearly playing in the app, but no sound.
The only thing that fixes it is to stop the app, disconnect the unit and plug it back in. Then it works again. Sometimes for several tracks, and other times just a couple.
Crazy thing is this happens also in the Tidal app. UAPP has quite a few complicated settings, so that is why I tried just normal tidal too. I don't have any advanced dev options enabled on the phone (I've found that can introduce more issues than help).
Has anyone encountered that with this unit or perhaps others that can suggest anything?

Had the same Problem with a Pixel 8 pro, Tidal and the M15i. Listened to an album, switched to another one (or another playlist) and the sound was gone while the track clearly was starting. Needed to remove the M15i and close the app to start over again. I found no solution for it and sent it back. Maybe it has something to do with android because I had similar problems with some other dongles.I'm hoping to get some insight into an odd issue with the M12i.

I have seen the m15i do that with an android dap as well while it worked flawlessly with a hiby r2II with its own simple OS

I’ve not experienced this with UAPP on any of my dongles. But, with Tidal, this is a well known problem, and I have seen it on my dongles…. If the first track you play is an MQA track, then any track afterwards that is not MQA will be silent. If the first track you play is not MQA, then any subsequent track you play that is MQA will be silent. This, of course, only happens on dongles that support MQA.I'm hoping to get some insight into an odd issue with the M12i.

P.S. I don’t have the Questyle dongles, but do have several others.

I bought the M15i dongle from Zeppelin at the last CanJam Singapore and I love it so much! Especially in combination with the Lepic DAC Pocket. This is a true high-end portable setup and enough reason to not carry the Chord Mojo 2 around anymore. The M15i sounds warm, spacious (especially deep) and smooth in the treble. I love how it integrates in iOS and makes my life so much easier.
It’s best paired with neutral and clean sounding IEM, in my opinion. Or if you are looking for an ultra-rich and saturated pairing.

Hi all.
Bought m12i for desktop (windows 11) and mobile (android) use. Mic input volume is ridiculously low so that nobody can hear me (although in windows mic input is 100) In manual m12i states that it supports inline mic. But this does not appear to be the case...
Has any encountered / fixed this somehow at least for windows (maybe firmware update or something)?
Thanks
Max
Follow-up: headsets do not properly work with m12i. The mic volume gain is too low (even with updated firmware). Apple dongle is way better in this regard if you plan to use headset / iem with mic.

Well after picking up the M12i a few weeks back, and feeling like it was indeed a step up from the original, I finally got an M15i. Early days yet but it is indeed nice on the ears
With my iPhone and little current measuring device I measure power draw (via 3.5mm) as:
36 mA/141 mW when connected, which stays the same when in high or low gain
100 mA/393 mW when playing music on low gain
105 mA/410 mW when playing on high gain
Interestingly the M15i only gives me 3.9-3.95V from the connection, whereas pretty much every dongle I've measured connected to my phone has been 5V or very close to. The slightly lower voltage seems to contribute to the lower overall wattage. In contrast, back when I had the original M15 I got:
61 mA/310 mW when connected (again, the same whether in high or low gain)
86 mA/430 mW when playing on low gain
90 mA/460 mW when playing on high gain
With the M15 I got a 5V connection.
So the newer model does indeed seem to draw less power by my measures, particularly when idle and not playing music. The only dongle I've owned that's tested lower is the Chronos (for both idle and playback), and the A&K HC2 seemed to have a quirk where it drew less power when playing music, coming in just under the M15i (with 89 mA/349 mW).
I do wish they stayed with the green light for the low gain though, much easier to understand at a glance than the single or double red light.

Hi @Questyle
The M12i has compatibility issues with Android devices using Tidal, specifically when the small window pops up asking to connect Tidal to the M12i.
When the small window pop up and I accept then it plays music only MQA, MAX Quality while the rest not.
If i don’t accept to connect to tidal then all works.
Next month thank God Tidal will remove MQA so we can be at peace.
@someyoungguy
Can you tell me if the M15i has a better sound than the M12i? How does it compare? The M12i has a very analog sound, does the M15i have the same analog sound or is it different?

Posted a review of the M15i here: https://www.audiodiscourse.com/2024/06/questyle-m15i-portable-dacamp-review.html
Still wondering how this ESS DAC sounds analogue and doesn't pierce the high treble like other ESS DACs?
It can even beat AKM DAC for smooth analogue sound.

good morning everyone, I have an fc6 that I'm selling/exchanging and I would like to try a questyle m12i or m15i, do you have any opinion on this? having a manual gain could be a more precise thing to use, but I don't think I will use the 4.4 since with iem 3.5 is already more than enough, what do you recommend? Opinions between the two?

Don't some IEMs take quite a bit of power to drive? Is it possible that you may end up with a model that does and require some extra power?
