The New Enleum AMP-23R Amplifier (Successor to Bakoon AMP-13R) Thread

I'm going by the measured FR, which is definitely V shaped.

OK, just one last question: I understand that you've heard Susvara? Not a tricky question or anything, just curious :)

the fact there is no possible way the AMP 23R can suck out mids

I hear you and from what I've seen, no other reviewer ever mentioned that Enleum is any short on mids. Pairings are critical in this hobby.

Just fyi, I heard the Susvara > Euleum AMP-23R combo recently and like it a lot. Certianly no short on mids or suck out mids. I declare then that it's the best ss amp I've heard with Susvara. Now it's a different story because I've another ss amp. :xf_cool:

I heard it years ago in 2018, when auditioning a few HPs. It was good, but was probably not amped well enough. I much preferred the Focal Utopia, which is what I went with.

Thisbisbwhy hifi is so much fun and interesting. Everyone has different taste.. guess once you get to certain level especially TOTL from different company, it's all about what you like...

I'm listening to this setup right now (with the Chord DAVE as my DAC) and this is absolutely one of the very best setups I've heard like....ever.

I hold the Utopias (I bought them in 2016 and again in 2019 :p) in very high regard...love them...but the Susvara and just above them pretty much across the board for me.

Well, I did it, I just bought one, so joining the club.

Love the smell of a newly machined chassis.

I am curious how the Enleum sounds with the Utopia using the TT2 as a DAC versus out of the TT2 direct.

Unfortunate, I sold my TT2 & M-Scaler, after a great 4+ year run. The DAC has been replaced by a Mojo2 and that's what's feeding the AMP-23R.

Sold MTT2 to make way for new equipment to drive a HiFi / speaker setup - looking at either KEF Reference 1 Meta, Revel F228Be or Sound Kaos Vox 3afw. I might get a Mola Mola Tambaqui somewhere down the track, but the Mojo 2 kicks ass (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/chord-electronics-dave.766517/page-1575#post-17359150)

The Utopia has also been listed, but I can tell you, with the Mojo2 feeding the AMP-23R, the sound is wonderful, bringing out all the nuances the Utopia can offer with tight control. Absolutely no "sucked out mids" as described in one of the previous reviews.

The AMP-23R is noise-less. I can play a 24bit digital black file with the amp at high gain levels and hear nothing at all.

My serial number is H012 - so definitely the latest revision of the amp.

Aaaand another chance to hear views on TT2 and Enleum passes by. It’s not highlighting weaknesses within the Mojo2 then?

An amp can't highlight weaknesses of a DAC, that can only be done by comparing DACs in the same upstream chain.

Is sounds like the Mojo 2's direct connection, just as resolute but richer or impactful, spacious, highlights more of the nuances in the signal, thus it's not a "wire with gain" but has its own way of presenting sound in a very good way. It's just going to bring out the best out of whatever its fed.

From my 4 years of the TT2, I would say the Mojo2/AMP-23R is a very worth side grade. What the TT2 can't do is drive speakers properly, or 'phones like Susvara properly, which the AMP-23R can do. For me, if there is anything to replace a Mojo 2, it would a reference class DAC (Tambaqui / dCS Lina w Word Clock / Dave), but lower priority for me at the moment.

Would I say the AMP-23R would be better than the TT2s internal amp? Yes.

I was more interested in the combination of TT2 as DAC with the Enleum than a comParisian of them as amps. Apologies for any confusion.

Well I tried the pairing, but only for a short time (less than 30 minutes). One thing for sure is 23R provide thicker leading notes, with some "extra' sweetness in Vocal as well. 23R is a transparent amp with good black background, so it's still sound clear as TT2 direct, while deliver stronger "dynamic" feel.
