My 1st attempt at a KZ SPC 8-wire braided cable, dyed a custom ‘copper’ color:

Do you think it looks like a copper cable, or is the shade a little bit off?

I care about the shade of color, not the amount of opaqueness of the color. This particular cable was in the dye too long, so it’s more vibrant/opaque. I need to leave it in the dye for less time, which will make it more transparent (but still the same shade of color).

This color looks especially good when paired with any of the ZS6 colors, as well as the blue ZS7.

However, if you folks don’t think it looks quite right, I have an idea for 1-2 more custom color combinations I can try to perhaps get the color even closer to true copper (for example it could use some pink in place of orange).

I’m also testing out my new light box for the 1st time. I can’t believe it took me this long to get one :)

Maybe tad too "brownish" but depends on the monitor color calibration and clolor/brightness/contrast scheme

Yeah, I think perhaps I need a base color of tan instead of brown, and use pink+yellow instead of red+orange.

I do see numerous upgrade cables with a similar brown/copper dyed color, like these:

Hey @CoiL, what do you think about this copper version?

IMG-4184.JPG

I made a minor tweak to the color, and also adjusted the dye exposure time.

For reference, that's an actual piece of copper pipe in the above photo. This way, differences in computer screen colors do not come into play when comparing the real life accuracy of the color.

I think it's a pretty accurate color match to the copper pipe. This newest cable is much lighter compared to the previous cables I posted a few posts up:

These look lit like fire
Damm too classic looking
Is there a driver swapping or just the aesthetics and back mesh

For this one I only did mmcx socket, swap the red nozzle filter for a normal stainless steel one, Auvio wide bore tips, and braided SPC cable.

Now that I know how to do it, I will be working on other modded ones (such as MH755 driver, Knowles, custom engraved shell, etc).

Here’s a little project I’ve been working on - a full resin conversion of an earphone I never used that often. It has a 9.2mm beryllium dynamic + Knowles 30042 BA.

Also, note the external venting I added to the dynamic driver.

I still have a few technical kinks I have to iron out before I perfect the process, but it’s coming along.

My goal is working towards making custom shells like Peacock Audio P1, but that’s down the road :)

I think the data sheet is wrong. No way it’s 100os. I am pretty sure they missed a decimal place (In other words, 10.0 ohms).
